Well, for about 8 months I have been peeking in on Warmachine, and various factions to see if I want to come back to the game now that there is a single opponent that moved into town. I think I am going to go back to playing Cryx now that I have put some thought into it, and really want to run a Satyxis heavy army. Scourge Of the Broken Coast seems perfect for running Satyxis with either Skarre 1 or 2, does anybody have any experience with or against it? Here is a 75 point list I have been dorking around with for ideas:

Skarre1
-Seether
-Seether
-Reaper
-Deathripper
-Deathripper
-Satyxis Blood Priestess

Satyxis Raiders full unit
-UA
Satyxis Blood Witches
-UA
Satyxis Gunsligers
Blood Ogrun Ironmongers

Satyxis Raider Captain
Misery Cage

75 points

I know that the Priestess will not be very useful for Skarre1, but if I am reading the cards right, she can activate before Skarre and try to charge and kill something to cast Ritual Sacrifice for Skarre before she activates, giving her the bonus Focus for that round since the spell read "Skarre gains d6 additional focus points at the start of her next activation." That should be able to potentially set up Skarre pretty well for her feat turn after feeding the 'jacks a good amount of focus.

The Seether looks far different than from what I saw when Mk.III dropped, it looks like tons of fun now, especially when mixed with the Reaper to try and drag an important model closer. And the Reaper is always a model I wanted to use when I first played Cryx back in early Mk.II, but never got around to getting one.

I am a bit iffy on the Deathrippers, and have considered dropping them and the Ironmongers for 2 Nightwretches and a second Raider Captain to support the Blood Witches. As much as I like the idea of the Ironmongers, they just don't seem like I will get too much mileage out of them since the 'jacks will be pushing forwards into combat pretty quickly, leaving me with this:

Skarre1
-Seether
-Seether
-Reaper
-Nightwretch
-Nightwretch
-Satyxis Blood Priestess

Satyxis Raiders full unit
-UA
Satyxis Blood Witches
-UA
Satyxis Gunsligers

Satyxis Raider Captain
Satyxis Raider Captain
Misery Cage

75 points

The nice thing about this list, is that for Skarre2 all I have to do is drop either the Misery Cage or swap the Nightwretches for Deathrippers. However, both light 'jacks seems like they would benefit well from Black Spot, and the Blood Priestess looks like she will really shine with Skarre2 in more of a support role.

Would love some feedback from you guys about whether or not these lists look like they could hold their own in a casual setting.

Well, I have found out about the two new Satyxis named solos coming out. I am going to adjust my list a bit and post up the new one.

Any thoughts on the Scourge of the Broken Coast theme force though? Has anybody tried it?

Are we talking for taking somewhere shark tanky and doing well? Or local tourney fun jank? Because that changes the discussion

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

I am looking to play in just a casual setting.

With skarre1 I really like at least 1 stalker. They're great fun with her feat and dark guidance. I don't know how often you'll get that spell after a melee kill off with the priestess so she may be kind of dead weight if that's the intent. Otherwise yeah they look fun without trying to be stompy

So, been tinkering around with my lists more, and I think I am going to go with these. I really didn't think Skarre1 needs the arc nodes, and that I wanted to run more bodies with her as sacrifices to get Focus. I did want to run a few arc nodes with Skarre2, and the Blood Priestess to upkeep a spell for free. I got lucky and picked up a unit of Blood Witches at 75% off, and got a brand new old metal Reaper for $14 online. Well, back on my way to playing Warmachine again. I am pretty excited.

I can't wait. It has been a while for me since I played Cryx. The army I sold off at the start of Mk.III was Khador. It will be strange playing with fragile SPD 6 jacks and infantry with t-shirts for armor.

Really glad they fleshed the Satyxis line out with Gunslingers and the new solos.

I'd probably have painted up a new skarre pirate force if stalkers were plastic.

Stalkers do look pretty neat based off their rules, however it is one of the less atrractive old metal kits. Don't get me wrong, I personally prefer metal over resin and plastic, the Stalker just hasn't aged very well.

Hah. I don't mind pinning models. There is already close to 50-60 pins in my Blood Angels army.

Well, managed to pick up two brand new boxes of (the old) Satyxis Raiders for the price of 1! 2 new Sea Witches for $8, and a Raider Captain for $5 shipped brand new!

Well on my way to completing my army!
