Hey all! Anyone playing in the Breachstorm open beta? It's live now and all the rules are available on the Breachstorm website. If you submit feedback you can enter to win free minis before the Kickstarter goes live.

If you haven't heard of the game before it's a sci-fi skirmish level game with ~6-8 minis/side and plays super fast. Also there are cat people which is pretty cool.

You can check out the beta rules here.

Cheers!

Hi,

So your links are broken and so is the pic.

I did look at the cards though and give a read on the rules.

Good Stuff:
3x3 Board. I wish more skirmish games were on small boards. Heck even 2x2! It makes getting terrain easier and it takes up less space. Plus also promotes really cool scenic boards.
Stat cards have a nice layout
Rules seem ok. I like the combat mechanic. D6xACC - EV = Sucesses for damage. (In its simplest form atleast)

Bad Stuff:
Cards are hard to read for symbols and some text.
To many special rules. Let me dig into this more.

In a small way, to reminds me of a scifi Malifaux. That's a good thing though. The problem is a million special rules. The less I need to look in a rulebook for what abilities do the better. Also basic actions listed on units seems overkill on text.

Im so close to wanting to try it, just because im a fan of small game boards, but the bad is really holding me back. Overwhelmed by all the card text and what does what.

I highly suggest you do short simple how to play vids on either each phase of what happens, or actual game play of a few turns and post it. If I could watch that, it may convince me to print it all out and give it a go

Just watched it.

Makes more sense!

Thanks for doing that. I will print out the stat cards and rules tomorrow and hopefully give it all a go this fri or sat

Some questions on the video

1. Are officers needed to make grunts activate? I see they spend order tokens to give grunt actions. If I lost my officer, can I just activate 1 grunt and get 2 orders? I guess the main point is you want to kill officers as they can let you activate a lot of models at once.

2. Homeworld riflemen. Is the cost 9 points per guy, or 9 points for 3 guys?

3. You can move in and out of combat freely? Ive played a lot of DND and other skirmish games so there is usually a check to make or the guy your with gets a free swing

Got some answers so figured id post the reply here to save these guys some time and let anyone else know whos been interested in this...

1. You must activate Field officers, but if they are dead, or you have models outside their command range, you can infact activate other models when its your turn, you just don't get any bonus activation tokens since it wasn't from a field officer

2. Models cost is per stat line on a card. So the Riflemen are 9 PPM, not ( for 3

3. You can freely leave combat, but it still costs your normal movement action to move away

4. Firing mode for Riflemen only last til end of the turn. So if you go burst mode, you can basically spend 3 actions to fire 4 times.

Quick reference rule sheet should be posted up today also.

Thanks for posting these up! The quick reference is up as well, and there should be a full gameplay video up within the next couple of days.
