I once charged a unit of assault terminators with a 10-man squad of guardsmen (dunno what I was thinking)... and they actually killed two termies with their bayonets!
Of course they promptly got butchered after that. But it went better than I had any right to expect.

I some how managed to throw enough grenades into a storm raven to drop it from the sky in like 2 turns.
did it again on a different game.
I just find it hilarious.

(7th edition, back when they had 1 wound) attacked a squad of 5 TH/SS terminators with 10 gretchin. Ran them out of cover to take the shot.
5 wounds, 5 1s. We calculated the odds of that happening, and it was in the millions.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"
"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"
"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"
"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!" |

IG commander w/power sword, grey knight GM in that big suit in 3 wounds, I charge alone, I kill.
Half dead chimera charging into pair of veteran marines with thunder hammer and actually killing them both for their trouble was also fun.
One space marine captain against 30 hormagaunts. Took ages but eventually only marine was standing amidst piles of tyranids.
Blood angel dreadnought against 3 ork dreadnought and 3 killa kans. And lots of ork wrecks were created.
You get these when you try often enough and seeing I'm gambler at heart I can't help but go for "this is cool" attempts if situation looks like one Number of failures are however far more

Back when 8th first dropped. I had Voldus in the middle of a few squads stuck in melee with all of them, down to 1 wound. Tried to gate of infinity him out of there, failed with a double 1, and killed everything with the perils explosion. This was the last turn and clearing those bodies off of the objective won me the game.

I charged a landraider with a squad of tacs to keep it from shooting my Redemptor. Everyone except the chainsword Sgt died in immediately, but he kept at it, tying the tank up for 3 turns and didn't take a wound. in retrospect it was completely stupid but it worked.
in another game my Hellblasters and Gravis capt(w salamanders mantle)got charged by a mob of 30 boys. the Hellblasters toom out 4 in overwatch but were wiped in the first encounter but the capt just kept on choppin dem boyz up and by the end of game only 3 were left, while he had taken only 2 wounds. my inital thought was to boogie out of there s the capt but I said screw it and took my chances.

In 5th, I charged a unit of 5 Lootas into a Draigostar in order to "pull" attacks away from my Klaw Nobz. The Lootas died horribly for only 5 points of cr, while my Klaws pulped the Grey Knight Paladins dead.

Wasn't me who did this, but two friends were playing a small game back in 6th edition. Space Wolves vs. IG. There was a blob of 50ish guardsman and the SW player decided to charge a 5 man Grey Hunter squad into them. 3 died to overwatch and 1 was killed in CC. The Grey Hunters managed to kill enough to have the guardsman lose moral and that one lone Grey Hunter Sweeping Advanced the entire blob of guardsman.

Once, when I was on a 6th form rugby tour of Australia, whilst completely sober I shaved my head so I had a Mohawk as a joke just before the dinner of the last night, using only a pair of scissors, a bic disposable razor and a friend over the course of two hours. I got suitably amazed outcrys when I emerged. Definitely worth it 10/10 would do again.
Oh you meant in 40k.
Yeah I play gunlines most of the time because I'm a boring player. I played castle dwarves when WHFB was still around.

Master of Ordanance spam in the tail end of 7th edition was crazy good. Had all the tasty additions, Coteaz, Psyocculum and orders. Nuked a Guard tank list and Be'lakor in two different games turn 1. Also tabled a wulfen/thunderwolf cav list with it as well.

Back in 6th, I had a unit of Plague Bearers, 3 models left. Playing against Eldar and was towards the end of the game. I needed to stop that wraithknight from causing all sorts of havoc, was 10" away. Thought "screw it" and declared a charge - through cover. Rolled 3 dice, a 5, 6, 6. Made the charge and both sides proceeded to hit each other with nerf bats for the last 3 turns winning me the game.

"Courage and Honour. I hear you murmur these words in the mist, in their wake I hear your hearts beat harder with false conviction seeking to convince yourselves that a brave death has meaning.
There is no courage to be found here my nephews, no honour to be had. Your souls will join the trillion others in the mist shrieking uselessly to eternity, weeping for the empire you could not save.
To the unfaithful, I bring holy plagues ripe with enlightenment. To the devout, I bring the blessing of immortality through the kiss of sacred rot.
And to you, new-born sons of Gulliman, to you flesh crafted puppets of a failing Imperium I bring the holiest gift of all.... Silence."

mostly at 7th edition
Attempting a 12" charge because why not to crush a Grey knight terminator Squad, rolled 11, then re-roll it due Jump pack rule and rolled a 12".
A squad of Wraithguard is obliterated in a flank vs 2x Onager Crawlers, last remaining Wraithguard decides to get some payback, moves forward and one shoot 1st Onager (D-wraithcannons) survive the 2nd Onager attacks due rolling a 1 for wounding, then desintegrate the 2nd Onager with 1 shoot again and moves to attain Linebreaker (that pretty much won me the match)

I ran over someone in my car four years ago because they slept with my wife. Saw em walking, thought 'ah' and swerved right into him. Watched his head bounce off the windshield, not sure what happened after that since I just kept driving. Just one of those impulse things, you know? It was late and no one was around. Didn't bother to check the news and I sure as hell didn't ask around about him after. Took the car to a guy, got it fixed. He wrote on the repair bill that I clipped a deer.

Recently, on the last turn of the game, I moved Pask on the last objective to get the points advantage, knowing my opponent's Guilliman would be in range of the objective. I shot Guilliman down and he resurrected with 2 wounds. My opponent took his last turn and charged Guilliman into Pask and killed him. I rolled to explode and rolled a 5, so I used my last command point and rerolled the explodes dice and rolled a 6 and then got 3 mortals on Guilliman. Didn't get the objective but ended up getting Slay the Warlord to win by 1 point.

My 7th Ed Chapter Master routinely used his Orbital Bombardment in a manoeuvre I liked to call ‘Danger Close’.
It once landed directly on his head, killing him, an entire Terminator Assault Squad and their Land Raider Crusader in one go. Hilariously, after a failed Look Out, Sir! led to the Chapter Master’s death, two Terminators survived the Orbital shot, but were killed by the Land Raider exploding. The dice gods truly hated me that day.
Another time it actually worked, killing three Bloodcrushers and a Lord on Juggernaut. My opponent was so offended by this he cast Invisibility on his Bloodthirster and tore the Chapter Master a new one, but it was worth it.

Take that bugs! Guard eating you in h2h! It was glorious and got our side couple vp's from objectives.
It took a visit from rampaging transcendant c'tan to put a stop for that squad. Damn double str flamers

Back in third I tank shocked a rhino into a carnifex, hive tyrant, carnifex. Lost both stormbolters, and the HK missile, but ran over all three monsters. Tank got immobilized (destroyed) the next turn by a single genestealer.
