After my first game I was a little sceptical on the ruleset, this Tuesday I played 3 more games (2 300 point games and a bigger 2v2 600 point game).

I am full on sold to the game, once we introduced Heroic Actions as well I fully understood how to split combats I really saw both the depth and tactical opportunities the game brings. A great example was a point where there was a big combat between my Urak-Hai and a lot of Minis Tirith guys. I was able to split the combats as I had priority to get my Urak-Hai Bersekers into 1v1 combats, leaving a few of my Urak-Hai in 1v2s. The Urak-Hai Berserkers won there combats and killed the enemies while the 1v2 as I expected lost but as there D6 v S3 it was 6s to kill them and they survived allowing me to clean up the next round with favourable combats all round.

All in all, I'm totally sold on the game. On Payday I'll be ordering 10 more Urak-Hai warriors, Isengard Commanders, Ward Riders & Isengard Troll.

A Song of Ice and Fire - House Greyjoy.
AoS - Maggotkin of Nurgle, Ossiarch Bonereapers & Seraphon.
Bloodbowl - Lizardmen.
Horus Heresy - World Eaters.
Marvel Crisis Protocol - Avengers, Brotherhood of Mutants & Cabal.
Middle Earth Strategy Battle game - Rivendell & The Easterlings.
The Ninth Age - Beast Herds & Highborn Elves.
Warhammer 40k  - Tyranids.

Excellent news! If you're on Facebook i'd reccomend joining the Great British Hobbit League Facebook page for the best news/ advice/ hobby chat and even a few cheeky posts from the Middle Earth team if you're not a member already.

It sounds like you've taken to the game quite quickly with some tactical combat choices. Isengard can be a very hard hitting army and you can have a lot of fun with Saruman and Grima (they become viable at around 700 points).

You've picked a great time to get back into the hobby with the focus shifting back to the Lord of the Rings later this year.

Yeah I currently have 554 but it's not a ideal mix as I'm heavy on heroes (I Have Lurtz, Vrasku, Ugluk & Sarauman) so I'm looking forward to getting more troops to bolster out the ranks.

It seems like it's a really good time, Warhammer Live have a bunch of LOTR content which is really nice as well

Yeah its a full Middle Earth day today. I'll be heading over there after work too so I'll catch it "live" if that's doable.

Your heroes are really great especially with each having 3 might. A heavy armoured captain can make a good leader with the D7 keeping him alive longer, and a Shaman is also great for casting Fury and keeping your guys alive longer and having them be fearless while he's at it!

Happy to have another convert into the fold. It simply is one of the best rulesets with one of the best IP's ever. A perfect marriage IMHO

@OP - After my first game, I felt the same way and have ever since. I'd really recommend picking up the Battle Companies book because it will give you another way to have tons of fun with this amazing rule set.

Second. Battle companies is great and makes the game even more immersive and long-lived.

Looks like a formidable list if you play your cards right with Saruman and Lurtz.

That sounds a fun list. Saruman will either make or break your army at low points. You'll have to report back with how you get on. also, its well worth dropping a single Uruk to get Saruman on a horse.

Hmmm I haven’t been able to see signatures on mobile... that explains a lot.
