As the Planetary Governor of the 7th Planet, a Civilized Imperial World, in a System, your homeworld is recently celebrating the recent construction of its 4th Hive City.

Your planet has become an industrious commercial hub for the whole sector, granting you regional contacts and influence with all major bodies of the Imperium....including strangely enough the Inquisition.

By some bizarre stroke of luck, you have intervened on several occasions that actually helped Inquisitorial investigations. They have in turn repaid your kindness by not putting their Inquisitorial Fortress on your planet. On occasion, you even receive members of the Inquisition at the Governor's Palace - often seeking aid in their endeavors and through them your eyes have been opened to the wonders and horrors of the universe.....

It is why that last Vox recording you just received after the celebration was so.....disturbing. You could have sworn it was one of your contacts in the Ordo Hereticus, something about how "it couldn't be stopped.." before the Vox cut-off. You are of course intending to look into the matter....quietly... (after all, you may have above average cordial relations with the Inquisition...but its still the Inquisition).

You awaken in the middle of the night to the sounds of alarm as your ministers inform you that the Other Two Inhabited Planets in the System are in Open Revolt. Reports of pitched battles being fought across each world reach you as well as mass panic and sightings of strange twisted cultists of some misbegotten evil throwing their lives away before PDF gunfire.

By mid-morning you receive word about an occurrence on the 1st Planet closest to your System's Star - an Archaeological site interdicted by the Inquisition. Images are Hazy but you could swear you see some sort of......Gate.......and some dark shadow that lays beyond it. By the afternoon, upon further communication with your fellow planetary governors, you see more of these Gates...and feast your eyes on what no mortal should ever see..

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Sparsely Populated Agri-World falls, and you haven't heard from the Planetary Governor of that world.

Attempts to contact the 2nd World, where the Inquisitorial Fortress lays, is greeted with silence.

Your other fellow Planetary Governor, from the depths of his Palace-Fortress, informs you that aside from the Mordian Regiment that is protecting his Capital, he swears up and down that some....force... has co-opted a portion of his PDF and the AM that are on his planet. He also made contact with a member of the Inquisition before he died....and knows an Exterminatus Fleet is on its way.

It is then you start to receive reports of Mass Rioting in all the Hive Cities of your own Planet.....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*You know the Exterminatus Fleet is on its way - and despite your cordial relations with the Inquisition, they will not spare your world or any other in this System unless you have a Damn Good Reason.

*Rioting and Cult Activity seem to Increase every day or so. The Adeptus Arbites are looking into it, but are hard pressed as Crowd Control is taking up the most of their resources. Apparently someone has tainted the food and water supply....

*With the exception of a rather sizeable convent of the Adepta Sororitas (Choose an Ordo and Why would they be useful to you) and your immediate staff.... you cannot be certain about the complete loyalty of any other institution on the Planet. In fact, several of your orders have been.....distorted.... somewhere in the chain of command resulting in catastrophic losses in certain cities.

*Refugees from the Agri-world and the Other Civilized World have been streaming in since the chaos and fighting have started.

*That Agri-World? Daemon playground at this point. As for the Other Civilized World, reports from your Counterpart are showing a Gate-Like Structure similar to the Report you saw on the 1st World.
You know absolutely nothing as to the conditions of the 2nd World, the one with the Inquisitorial Fortress.

*You put out a call for Aid...... an Adeptus Astartes Chapter has answered you......... Its the Lamenters...... You hope their Presence isn't an Ominous sign.

*You Put out a Call to (Insert 1 More SM chapter) because (insert reason). They will arrive well before the Exterminatus Fleet makes it here.

*A Recent Regiment of (Insert AM unit) has also made its way to your planet from Outside of the System. Like the Adepta Sororitas, you are 100% certain that they aren't in on the Conspiracy that is attempting to bring down your world. You feel like they can be useful because (insert reason).

*Fighting is intensifying as 2 out of the 7 Continents of your homeworld are now in open revolt. The Revolutionaries/Cultists/Freaks/etc. are getting their Firepower from.....Somewhere....

How does my Lord Governor wish to proceed given the circumstances of the Crisis?

"Hey inquisition contacts, I'm sure you have some other planet that needs a new (and very loyal) governor. Shame about that exterminatus thing coming, but, hey, eggs and omelets and such."

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

So, Lamenters and Ultramarines (because they will at least listen to humans and make some good combined arms operations with PDF, IG and IN and they are not kill crazy) are a damn good start.

I suppose I will ask for the Tanith First and Only because Plot Armor AND Gaunt is well thought of everywhere.

I will happily act as go-fer between the Greater Imperium and my planetary forces AND happily sacrifice whatever necessary to try and save what can be saved.

Yeah, at this point I'm going to give anything and everything to the greater Imperium that I have to give with the hope that I can save (in order) the planet, the planetary resources, the population (or at least that percentage that is pure enough) and myself. Be totally on the up and up and just give until I can't give anymore on the very off chance that something can still be saved and that I might beg, borrow and steal my way into some sort of system wide decision making group (hopefully composed of some normal humans like PDF/Imperial Guard/Imperial Navy types and not totally dominated by post-human hubris filled trigger-happy douche nozzles like Space Marines (although Lamenters are a good start, and I'm lucky maybe some Ultramarines or Salamanders show up...) or Inquisitors and whatnot have closed door meetings to figure out whether to kill everyone, or kill 99% and torment the 1%, then kill them...

Grey Knights 712 points Imperial Stormtroopers 3042 points Lamenters 1787 points Xenomorphs 995 points 1200 points + 1790 points 770 points 369 points of Imperial Guard to bolster the Sisters of Battle

well first of all I'd request the adpetus Soratis order begin the process of securing holy relics in system for transit to safer areas.

the AM regiment I;d hope would be a Cadian regiment, anyone doesn;'t matter, they're presumably better then most at fighting chaos then your average AM unit, I'd assign them to help over see the evacuation of key proven loyal people, myself my family my twleve mistresses... you know the essentials.

the astartes chapter I'd put out a call to would be the grey knights, if ANYONE can stop this it's them. but I'd largely be operating under the assumption the system is lost and take steps to preserve as much materials as I can, and ensure I was as helpful as possiable, put bluntly, the loss of the system is going to make me look BAD. (even if it's likely the Inqusition is at fault, they may well wish for a scapegoat) my best hope is to apper helpful, calm professional and a steady person, and hope I can impress the right person to have a patron willing to give me an honorable posting elsewhere

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

If the system is in open revolt AND an exterminatus fleet is already on it's way, then I'd dare say that the assassins have already been despatched and the governor is dead, so what he can do is pretty much irrelevant.

Exterminatus isn't a casual thing - especially on an industrial hub world. It's a "last resort" thing and generally means any "easy fix" has already passed the point where it could be used.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Drink some scotch, put ornate las pistol in my mouth and end it all. It's all over anyway. You don't get to look into the warp and carry on in this universe.

So one of my offline friends offered this up.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"So..... there are no Daemons manifesting on my world then?"

"Nope... just Cultists.."

"And the Exterminatus then, it wasn't directed against my world right?"

"Its implied that its directed against the Archaeological Site on Planet 1 closest to the your System's Star.. and it will of course sweep up any other Planets that have suffered demonic incursion."

:He's silent for 5 minutes:

"I know what needs to be done.."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.) Annihilate The 2 Continents in Revolt - Virus Bomb It, Nuke It, Whatever it Takes

Question from Me: "Excuse me? Your going to eradicate your own..."

Him: "If the Inquisition Arrives and there is no sign of Taint, and the Population isn't made aware of Daemonic forces, that's half my problem taken care of already... My Homeworld isn't in Open Revolt, I still have Control of the Majority of the World."

2.) Execute Any Refugees from the Other Two Worlds

Him: Harsh and Cruel, but I can't take the Chance they might be Cultists i Disguise.

3.) Throw the Lamenters at Planet 2 to Investigate the Inquisitions Fortress or the Archaeological Site on Planet 1.

Him: "I want their bad Luck as far away from me as possible. Besides, if they stir something up they can all go die to the Last Astartes and I could calmly direct the Inquisition toward the Other Problem Worlds."

4.) Block all Transmission and Blockade The Other Civilized World

Him: "Poor Gary (random name he gave the other Planetary governor), i'm sure we were good friends. Wives and Children probably played together. But when the Inquisition shows up, i'm feigning ignorance and throwing his world under the bus so to speak."

5.) Adeptus Soritatas and Marshal Law.

Him: "Until the Crisis ends, i'm Granting the Sisters the right to summarily execute anyone they think is a Heretic.... Ecclesiarchy, Adeptus Arbites, AM, i don't care. Anyone with the tiniest whiff of Hersey is going to burn in Very Very Public Displays.."

Me: :Raising an Eyebrow:

Him: "I can get away with a slap on the wrist from the Ordo Xenos or Hereticus ... Malleus is another thing altogether. I can't risk any form of Daemonic invasion."

6.) Summon the Space Wolves

Me: "Err... Wat?"

Him: "Because if there's one Chapter that might actually raise a stink with the Inquisition about killing us all, its them. Furthermore, they are also just as Crazy as the Lamenters, so if the situation is in Hand, i'm going to Direct them to Planet 1 so they can go meet their fate at the hands of a Lord of Change, Great Unclean One, whatever.."

7.) "My AM unit is Cadians.. "

Him: " i need merciless shock troops for my campaigns against the other 2 Continents. And given that they are right next to the Eye of Terror , i'm guessing they might be less susceptible to seeing "weird gak.""

8.) General Strategy: "Oh Mr. Inquisitor, its so nice to see you. Yeah, there was this strange kind of revolt going on involving a Cult. We took care of it of course, feel free to summarily question any member of my population. But you know, next door there is this Planet and we haven't really heard anything from or our other neighbor. And there have been these Strange goings on Planet 2 and 1... I sent the Lamenters and Space Wolves there.

This type of thing is well above my paygrade, but tell me what you need and it will be done."

Summon the 'Hammers of Dorn' Chapter.
Summon the 'Brontian Longknives' Regiment.

Kill all refugees and close borders.

Use the Sororitas to purge every and all officers that have distorted my commands (and any they suspect of heresy) to ensure that communication lines remain open and free of interference.

Dispatch the Lamenters to seek out/ hunt down the source of the weaponry that end up in rebel/cult hands. If it turns out the PDF has been joining/ supplying them, a purge would be necessary (again utilizing the Sororitas).

Use the Hammers of Dorn to seize what remains of the food/water reserves and production facilities on my world. Preventing any contamination and holding those positions at all costs and destroying them if lost.

Populations that remain loyal and fight against the cultists get food, water and support from the Brontian Longknives who are experienced with Hive combat and close quarters engagements.

Pray to the Emperor that it's enough and shoot myself with a pistol if that fails.

Throw your lot in with the Ruinous Powers!

That wasn't necessarily an answer to your question, more a public statement.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

I take the Order of Our Martyred Lady (because Celestine will pro ably pop and help out)
To tag along with the Lamenter , I will summon an old friend(Not) The Carcharodon Astra! I will offer them what they can fill their ships in goods from the red or the gray tithe. I am desperate to survive by then so I will gladly throw in potential rebels to the sharks. With luck this will blunt any rebellion once Tyberos start reaping the bloody harvest.
For guards I need the best of the best in keeping the common folk down so I summon the Millitarum Tempestus Scions to hunt down the rebels sipply line.
