I just ran across this Custodes strategy and it is incredibly weird. It cost 2 CP and is played during deployment (so you can try to recover the CPs spent) and it lasts all game. Can this be right or do you think that this is just another GW screw up?

No you have the right of it. Its not that good. Its just one reroll a turn (2 a battleround) on one model. Considering how hard it is to get cp with custodes, and how many great stratagems there are, its not an instant choice

It would seem to me, that even if you couldn't try to recoup the intial points that it could save 2 CPs a round which means that after the first round you've probably either broken even or made a profit.

Only if that model is the model you want rerolls for. If it's not then it did nothing.

That's like saying a vindicator could do 18 wounds on a superheavy tank per round. It might but it probably won't...

It depends. You throw it on a bike captain and he's usually using it on your turn to re-roll a to Wound from his hurricane bolter. Once he's in melee, he'll probably want it for an invulnerable save too.

It's a good strat and if we had Astra Militarum CP, it'd be a no brainer to dump it on every Character. Since we're limited, however, probably best to keep it to 1 or 2.

I played someone who had it in a soup list. He had bobby G, 2 FireRaptors, 3 bike Capts and some IG. So he had a decent amount of points and he had the 5+ recover ability.

I like it a lot. The limitation is that the Reroll can only relate to the selected character, so you can't directly equate it to the Command Reroll stratagem. But in the right circumstances it is still quite strong.

Best used on a Bike captain with the 3++ relic to make him incredibly tough to kill!
