Hi All.

I have been recently working on a project for the new Necromunda - Underhive tabletop game to add a little more depth to the already deep darkness of the hive cities of Necromunda....

I have started this thread just to see if there is any interest in this project, images will be uploaded soon...

Is that some 3d printed walls? I'll be following this.

They were 3D printed then replicated with polyurethane resin.

I'm just testing the water at the moment to see if its worth making kits if people would like them,

That's some really atmospheric photography and editing, and the paintwork is looking sharp too! All I'd suggest is maybe rethinking the text colour, the deep red gets lost very easily in the darker pics. Maybe even stick a border around it in a lighter colour?

Any chance you have some shots of the models on a clean background? I'd really like a closer look at the paintwork as there's some very neat work there.

Ditto! Took me a while to work out the "We are predators" bit

Really nice-looking work. The striations (striata?) from the print process don't even bother me (they normally do ... seriously).

thanks, i decided to keep the print layers, i could have done acetone smoothing but it tends to dull a lot of the detail and make finished prints way too smooth, i figured the lines would add a little extra texture to the metal.

I'll try and get some pictures of the gangs up soon, I'm a bit slow with painting and a lot of my time has been focused on getting these wall sections finished.

I'll also post some pictures of the wall sections as single pieces when i can.

There are some companies already selling MDF. etc. walls for the board game version of Necromunda - but I don't expect that to be a large market. The overwhelming majority of players will be using proper 3D tablescapes.

Nice work! Excellent paint job. Loving the blood dripping down the sides of the bases!

In the middle of a big and ambitious Necromunda project myself and I'm absolutely going to take that bloody bases idea (promise I'll give credit when posting )

great work! The photography adds so much atmosphere. Maybe you could get one of those mini smoke machines too!

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

i wanted to paint half the bases in a different style for each gang, its also a good way to show the forward facing of a character and what exactly is the front half and back half at a quick glance.

These aren't the best examples, i quickly cast each piece without using my pressure pot so a fair few micro-bubbles got caught around some of the edges and bolts but they should give an idea of what each piece looks like.

I agree totally, i still remember playing the old necromunda with its cardboard and plastic buildings and its one of they things that i really love about the setting but at the same time one thing that all new necromunda players should have in common is that the majority will have the underhive core set and the game is being further supported by GW with additional tile sets being released so with that in mind i'm looking to expand my project a litter further and add in an additional 3D element to my wall sections.

This is a WIP picture just to give an idea what my next goal is, hopefully in another month or two i will have 3D printed upper floor sections as well as ladders, stairs and bridge/walkways.

since i will be looking at making some upper levels the original bulkhead doors may not be practical for some of the lower levels so i've started work on some moving doors to used on the lower levels which will be covered by upper floors.

Bit of a pause in development, going back to the original pieces to do a bit of a redesign and hopefully limit the amount of magnets and extra pieces that I've been making.

Not dead yet, just testing out the redesign of the scenery blocks and doing a trail run of the vertical stacking and platforms.

Thanks man, Good to know although this has turned more into a personal project, the time and material cost makes it a bit unfeasible at this moment in time without some manufacturing assistance although I am talking to a local laser cutting service and I may be producing something which may be of interest to anybody who wants a necromunda and 40k industrial board.

After a couple of failed attempts i finally have a MDF Board system which i am happy with for Necromunda, Kill Team and general 40K....

A variation of the Smash and Grab Scenario from Necromunda: Underhive.

Alternative view.

System has been made to fit the existing doors in the Necromunda starter set.

Top down view including doors

But lets face it, nobody wants to stay on a 2D field when playing Necromunda.... so lets throw in a third dimension....

This is hopefully just the beginning, i hope to add in more wall designs, stairs, walkways and other scenery options such as pipes, water channels, melted floor sections etc....
If i get enough interest in this i will be making this system available for sale... so fingers crossed.

Thanks for the support, if you have any ideas you would like to share please do, I'm looking for new ideas for scenery, wall designs or anything else which will make this ideal for Necromunda skirmishes.

Man id love to do this my self with a laser cutter. gotta get me one of those soon.

If you are looking for more inspiration id say try a faux pit falls (wanted to do one of those infinity mirrors where it looks like a very deep elevator shaft ), heavy machinery, walls with pipes and electrical boxs, and a control station. also more scatter like barrel boxs and containers.

its a good layout but it seems very empty.

could make it look more lived in.

thanks for the feedback, yeah its still a work in progress, i want to look at adding more scenery but i dont want to add too much just encase it gets in the way of gaming, i do have plans to add in some big pipes, barrels, crates and other general items but my 3D printer is currently down so I'm unable to do much until i sort out the problem, hopefully I'll be drafting up the stairs and walkways to be made soon. I like the idea of the lift shaft are there any good tutorials that youve seen that i can have a look at?

Hopefully this MDF kit will be made available for sale but I'm working with the supplier to see if i can get the price down a little bit more but if anybody is interested please drop me a mail at magrathean.creation@gmail.com.

This is some great work in every aspect, and really pumping up the inspiration level. Thank you! (I also thought the saying was Though i walk in the valley of death, I fear no evil...because I'm the baddest (you know what) in this valley...but that might be something I remember from AIT)
In any case, keep sharing.

Would it be viable to etch details into the back plates of the wall sections?
They look very neat and uniform at the moment, with just the two front plate designs. If the rear plate have outlines of cables, junction boxes, fans etc. on one side (and be reversible to use the plain side too), that would break the regularity up more. And ideally make the plate square so that it can be built in multiple alignments for added variety.

This be an infinity mirror. there are plenty of instructables on it and would make a really cool looking endless pit.

its basically a mirror > spaced layer with leds in it > then a glass with a reflective film or coating on one side that bounces back the light but with enough transparency to let the light come back so it gives the effect of depth. id frame it and put some mesh on top to look like a grate but have a broken hole in the middle to make it a danger zone.

maybe a 2x2 - 3x3. placeing things on top will reflect the bottom of the miniature so i dunno how well it would work. its just a silly though iv had.

It is certainly possible but the problem is that the etching would increase the production cost and to be honest most of it wouldn't be visible, I've decided to keep it fairly plain at the moment to keep the price down and give a blank canvas, i am looking at getting another wall design added to break up the patterns a little bit more and when i get my printer working again i'll probably be trying to make some wall panels and control boxes to add a little more character.
