Ladies in Gentlemen. Welcome to the Make your own of renowned units!
You see i am in need of special units for a campaign and i made a few
within the factions i know of. BUT there is an entire forum site here with
you dedicated creators. I am sure you would love to have some fictional
work that may or may not ever be praised or put into a good story -coughs-
i mean.. known throughout the world for their glory!

I all i ask is that you keep things somewhat realistic to the warhammer lore
when making your unit or character... or both. Odd quirks are appreciated.
Like Bretonnians using gunpowder weapons (unheard of but i nice quirk).
I also do suggest you leave faction specific armour and weapons out of this
No ithilmar or gromnil Armour on units outside the factions that have them.

I got a few units made as i said earlier.. but i won't mention them here. To see
if someone else had the idea or... close to the idea ^^ Now.. create!

The Firebows

High elf elven archers as per the High elf army book.
+2pts per model over base cost with light armour as standard. May have a musician and standard bearer as standard.

The unit champion is replaced with a Firemaster, who costs 45pts has a champions characteristics but is also a level one wizard of the lore of fire. His spell is always exchanged for Flaming Sword of Rhuin and he cannot gain additional spells by any means. the Flaming Sword of Rhuin spell can only be cast on the champions own unit and effects its shooting and melee attacks.

This unit will serve as a Mercenary for the following factions:

Empire, Bretonnians, High Elves, Lizardmen and Tomb Kings.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

Would it be easier (and cheaper) to just do the standard high elves archers with the banner of eternal flame which gives the unit fire attacks? :p I mean the wizard is probably there to make it stand out from a normal HE archer unit with the banner of eternal flame

I would suggest perhaps making the fire mage a lvl 2 and with a bow (if he is also an elf). Give him fireball aswell so he can help out his unit for ranged combat. Or the ruby ring of fire i guess? xD

Not my own unit, but I really like the Dragonback Slayers from Total War.

15 points per Dragonback Slayer.

Dragonback Slayers
The backs of these proud Slayers have been tatooed with the Rune of Slowness.
For every 5 models in this unit, this unit gains a Rune of Slowness (maximum 3).
For example a unit with 6 models counts as having 1 Rune of Slowness while a unit of 20 models has 3 Runes of Slowness.

I've been toying around with the idea of mounting cavalry on the White Lions that come in the High Elf chariot kit, but I have no idea how to stat them or what to even call them. Hell, I'm not so sure I'd even have White Lion troops riding them.

I have no idea what the "rune of slowness" does o3o

Just Tony. That is easy ; 3

Stats (Mount): Lion stats from the chariot

Price on the other hand is much harder to come up with
On first thought i think somewhere between 32 to 45 points pr model

The whole idea is that the unit champion dabbles in magic, and Flaming sword of Ruin is different from Banner of Eternal Flame. It is a merc, not a High elf army unit, so its used outside the box..

That's a hell of a spread...

Also, I should point out this unit would be for 6th Edition rules. So right off the bat I'd have to adjust to compensate for the statlines and points immediately.

MOM Miniaturas can source your Lion Rider for you.

https://www.momminiaturas.com/miniaturas-fantasia/elfos/

They envision this as a special character, not a unit. You could buy three and do minor conversions.

Eh, I'm probably going to hybrid up some Silver Helms with White Lion helmets and possibly cloaks. I'll come up with something.

OR

I'll find something comparable to use as a basis.

Whatever floats your elf.

Just an option. Best place to find out about alt manufacturers is the 9th Age miniatures section.

Yes. it is.. i could have sat down and done a deeper point analysis at that point... and i could do it now.. but 6th edition? Nha. i think i'm good.
Tho if i remember right from 6th white lions are 15 points pr model. Add them on a horse is commonly between 8-12 addition points, then comes barding... so i would perhaps believe the lions are a step above that. With their base S5 and 2 attacks each (the mounts that is) So they might be 15-22 points. Hard to calculate from work

Basically, we have a model with
2 Attacks WS 5 S5
1 Attack WS 5 S6 ASL
16" Movement Range
Fear-causing
T 3
AS 4+ (3+vs Shooting).
I find barding unfitting for this unit.

Kind of a glass cannon, slightly more resilient than Goblin cavalry. But really ugly if you let it arrive in combat.
Overall, I would consider them at least at par with Dragon Princes of Caledor.

35 Points could be an agreeable amount.

Isnt it monsterous cavalry?

Two or three wounds each and a heftier pricetag.

Revisiting this, I'm thinking more about using Cold One Knights as a basis. Fear causing mounts with armored dudes on the back. I'd have to check again to see if the movement characteristic jives or not. Just need to adjust for stupidity.

I own a number of Dogs of War regiments, and if I were to add something, it'd have to be a DoW version of something that simply didn't exist in 5th/6th Edition, preferably some sort of big Monster to update the DoW line. Maybe a War Hydra, or a Maw Krusha.
