How many other MST3K fans are there on Dakka? What are your favourite episodes?

Right here!
The show was always kind of a special thing in my mind because my dad was never really around too much when I was young due to work, but we always managed to sit down and watch it together when it came on. I think it was on Fridays. I forget what channel.
I recently got a copy of every episode they ever put out, and a lot of the movies were really pretty unwatchable, even with their commentary. I think overall my favorite was probably Space Mutiny.
WE PUT OUR FAITH IN BLAST HARDCHEESE!
Oh, but not the new stuff. Like, I thought it was just because it'd been so long since I'd watched the original and the format just didn't hold up or it'd be a "not like the old days" kind of thing and I just wasn't being fair to it. But no, the new stuff is not funny. My girlfriend never saw the original show, and she'll bust out laughing at it now if I put an episode on. I showed her some of the new stuff and she hated every minute of it. It's not good.

Only ones I've watched have been the one with Hercules Against the Moon Men, and one with a bunch of giant grasshoppers ravaging the countryside. I love how they tear apart those awful old movies!
I mean to watch more at some point, but I never seem to get around to it.

When you find the time I recommend Space Mutiny (for how much ammunition it throws them), Hobgoblins (for how despite basically being a super-crumby Gremlins knock-off it manages to be incomprehensibly weird) and Manos: The Hands of Fate (for how it is the ultimate fulfillment of MST's premise that Joel or Mike are being subjected to a torturous ordeal).

Future War is probably my favourite single episode. Rubber dinosaurs, Jean-Claude Gosh Darn, no budget, and rampant cardboard box abuse.

"The 75mm gun is firing. The 37mm gun is firing, but is traversed round the wrong way. The Browning is jammed. I am saying "Driver, advance." and the driver, who can't hear me, is reversing. And as I look over the top of the turret and see twelve enemy tanks fifty yards away, someone hands me a cheese sandwich." |

I remember when it was on channel 23 in my hometown..... where it all got started! They use to hav ea mini-marathon on New Year's Day leading up tot he watermelon drop off the top of the station at midnight. Good times..... but I am old.
I think Joel is good, Mike is rough but has moments, and Jonah is fine. I do have a soft spot for anyone with Gamera in it.
I was amazed at some of the cameos they scored for the most recent series.
