Hey guys, I'm working on a 2k Freeguild list based on the models I have/am working on. I've never actually played and want to try to get a game in by the end of 2018...looking to make a fun list with a good variety of models that is somewhat competitive. Here's what I have so far:

Freeguild/Empire:
***
-Leaders (200 pts):
--Freeguild General, mounted. 100 pts.
--Battlemage. 100 pts.

-Leader/Behemoth (300 pts):
--Freeguild General on Griffon. 300 pts.

-Behemoth (320 pts):
--Celestial Hurricanum. 320 pts.

-Artillery (360 pts):
--Cannon. 180 pts.
--Cannon. 180 pts.

-Battleline (680 pts):

--Freeguild Guard x30 (sword/shield). 240 pts.
--Freeguild Guard x30 (spear/halberd combo). 240 pts.
--Freeguild Handgunners x20. 200 pts.

-Other (140 pts)
--Freeguild Outriders. 140 pts.

The main thing that stands out to me points-wise is the 2nd cannon. At 180 points...I'm sacrificing a lot of attacks, wounds, and mobility for the cannon's range. I'd be able to add another 10 handgunners and 10 state troops for the cost of that 2nd cannon. Would be interested to hear opinions on the cannon vs. another 20 bodies.

As far as the Celestial Hurricanum goes, are there any benefits to having it operate without a battlemage? Based on the point cost, it seems like I'd be better off having the battlemage man the Hurricanum instead of spending 100 points on having him out on the ground. Those 100 points for the footed battlemage could be spent on another unit of troops or gunners.

Order or Freeguild allegiance? If the latter you are over the limit on allies.

At any rate, tye strength of a freeguild list is more or less proportional to how much you abuse the massive unit discount. If you find your list being too weak add more max-sized units of freeguild guard. If your list is too strong take some out.

The mage is a free upgrade on the Hurricanum so yes take him.

You may want to pick up the newest General's Handbook to get the Free Peoples allegiance rules. They have some powerful abilities but then the Allies rules will kick in. That will force you to choose between the Hurricanum and the artillery unless you decide to just use the generic Order allegiance.

Some of your points costs are off too, you can get the new ones from the 2017 Handbook or the Scrollbuilder on the Warhamner Community site. Besides some adjustments (more expensive Hurricanum, cheaper general on griffon) the biggest change is the massive regiments discount that makes it very cheap to up your Guard to 40 man units.
