Who's had custom foam inserts made, and how did they turn out?

I'm looking to get a set of custom foam cut for Kingdom Death storage, and am looking for pointers / suggestions.

Much thanks in advance!

Some may crap on Battlefoam, but every order I've received from them has been fantastic. You can use their custom tray creator to make your trays yourself, or send the outlines and depths of the models you need. Not super cheap, but worth the expense for the pricy models we store in the foam.

@Todosi - thanks for the reply. My understanding is that they use hard foam, not soft foam.

Iv made my own through mycasebuilder

turned out pretty dang good.

though you have to get your own bottom foam sheet and contact cement it together.

its about 10$ for a sabol size foam up to 2"

anything thicker gets way more expensive (but you can always double up on 2" foam with the same cuts and glue those together.

however the pricing is weird in that its better to get a sheet double long and make sure there is space between the two sheets to cut out your self.

I did it for Dwars though so it was much easier for me as i placed the model down on a sheet of paper, traced it with a pencil, increased the outline and added some scale lines in inchs then i upload it to their website and use one of there tools to auto detect lines.

pretty nifty.

Thanks, Desubot - I have a particular space I'm wanting to fill, and I want "nice" cuts as it's a "Boutique" game.

No issue working with rubber cement, though - that part, I can handle!

Not sure what you mean by hard foam exactly. Their foam is similar to the GW foam, or camera case foam and protects models very well.

There are multiple compositions and densities of foam; I prefer the softer, less dense foam.

Ah, I see. I haven't had any problem with Battlefoam doing any damage to minis, but they have announced a softer formulation of foam soon to be released.
