I think it's about time to get one of these started for this awesome game...

First, those who want more info. can go to the game's website. There you can find all the rules (free!) for the game and individual models, as well as check out the fantastic minis.

---
As for news, this guy was spotted in Red Republic's Adepticon cabinet:

Cato the Exile on Ladon - apparently he opens a new subfaction of Exiles... Not sure on all the details but it looks like he can join any other group of gladiators and they can benefit from his ludus bonus.

Also, Atrox the tiger:

Hopefully more info. pops up during the Adepticon weekend - the last I heard previews of the Greeks would be showing up, but I've seen nothing confirmed yet.

The game is awesome - elegant, smooth, and easy to grok. No idea what “fiasco” you mean - IMO the KS was more or less totally drama free (aside from MIKH taking forever and a day to finish his sculpts).

The tiger is pretty disappointing compared to the rest of the game. Phenomenal paint job and the prowling looks authentic but the rest of the game is so... fierce.

Totally agree. I was out of my mind excited for a ferocious ing tiger, and we get a placid, overgrown housecat. His rules are solid - notably Drag - but man, that, model...

Feel the same way. I love the beasts in this game, and planned on snapping the tiger up as soon as it released, but now it's on the back burner. I think the model could be saved with some textured fur added. A friend at Adepticon said the model is fairly smooth, which is odd for a fuzzy cat model.

Cato and Ladon are must haves, though!

Cards for Cato are floating around. His Exile faction is a fun addition, and opens a whole lot of posssibilites bringing models together. Not too broken I don’t think.

Also, the first Greek models have been shown. I’m guessing more throughout the weekend.

And the game, and be people behind it, are great. I honestly cannot recommend it enough. The “worst” part is the incredible models that are a bit difficult to work with at times. Very small parts on some of them.

This is one of my “someday... sigh” games. The models are exquisite, the rules seem great and it’s very low model count with opportunities for some great terrain.

I tracked down the first unnamed Greek model:

You think you could post the other info here? I’m not finding anything else in the places I usually do...

Only Firestorm as Mymearan posted. Expensive though (just the same amount of pounds as they are in dollars).

It's a really easy game to dip into. It's a very low model count game and it doesn't take long to realize there's not a need for a sprawling collection. It's also really simple rules wise and there's honestly probably more to the game in table layout then army selection. It's just kind of a fun to get in a round or two while waiting for people to show up for other games.

Agreed - definitely not one of the "lifestyle games" that you need to dedicate all your time and energy to collecting, painting, and learning to play an army... It lends itself to casual play with low model counts and simple rules, but seems to really shine when players master the interactions between activations, reactions, and intra-ludus synergy. The guys who made the game say they wanted it to be like chess (easy to learn, challenging to master) and I think that largely bears out.

So I’ll print out the free rules from their website https://arenarex.com(may want to update the op with the link ,and you can get the card/model info from under each model in the store to proxy the figs and try it out all for free. Is there a better place/resource to get the cards instead of going under each model and printing the picture out?

That's true, but even with the extremely low model count it's still very expensive for a game you play while waiting to play other games. Especially in Europe. The models are the biggest draw for me so I'd at least wait until I have time to do them justice!

I think that's the way to do it. They used to have links to easily printable paper models of the original KS minis plus their cards all arranged in pdfs posted on their forum but it looks like those are gone now unfortunately.

okay , Just printed out the rulebook, the erratta and organized play guidelines.

After checking out the forums I saw an old post about the Playmobile Colosseum on sale. (It had been out of production when I looked into the game a long time ago) They have it in stock with free delivery for $55.99. I searched their website and found out they have a 20% off sale going on through monday march 26th. That makes it $44.79. I'm very tempted to order it before I have any models for the game . I might try the game out tonight with my son using proxy models and cards (which I need to print out).

The models are so pricey and well-made that it's been very slow for me to grow my collection, but yeah, my group has really liked the few games we've played. There's something about the flow that makes it feel a bit like a light version of x-wing.

I still have my KS unused because nobody wants to play :( I sculpted a few gladiators during the wait for MIKH and had concepts for many more, but, yeah, without anybody to play I dropped that. Would've been the first to post in their conversion forum, too.

And booooooo at that tiger. I would've finally bought something from them again despite not using my stuff if they'd released the first good tiger miniature.

Looking for a Skaven Doomwheel banner to repair my Nurgle knights.

I still am so torn on that model. I want it for my Anum pack, but it looks so derpy.

I wish the sculptor had gone with this posture instead:

If only they were not so damn expensive....expensive in US, even more expensive in Europe :(
Quality is great, I can't deny that...but it's too rich for my pocket. For like 10e a piece I would give it a try, but for starter 45quid and single models around 20quid...way way too much.
I mean, Infinity has excelent metal modela, and you get almost box of 4 midels for price of single arena rex model. And starters with 6 models are like 20% cheaper than those with 3 models from arena rex.
Pitty:(

The models are pricey, but its a far more economical game than a lot I play. Price wise, the models are definitely larger than similarly based counterparts. Still expensive, but the game also just doesn't reward a sprawling, ever expanding collection the way many games do. Once I had about 8 figures I really felt like I had all I needed to get what I want out of the game.

90quid for 2 starter - 6 models.

100quid with shipping for Mythic battlec Pantheon KS for example...yes, minis were not as good as Arena rex, but you don't even wanna start to compare what you got in there...

Unfortunately, really price wise cost prohibitive compared to games you can find today...

Their model quality was excellent for the few that I bought. I doubt I’d ever get any other people to play with me, but at last o have plenty of display cabinets.

40k- The Kumunga Swarm (more)
Count Mortimer’s Private Security Force/Excavation Team (building)
Kabal of the Grieving Widow (less)

Plus other games- miniature and cardboard both.
