    Background:
I've been into fantasy and wargaming since Rogue Trader, D&D (red box) and Fighting Fantasy. Warhammer was the easiest to get into, with their stores being prevalent around and no shortage of people to play with. Sadly, I've played maybe 3 games of Warhammer/AOS/40k in the past 20+ years, as I never really get an army to a state where I can do anything with it.

    I currently have in disarray:
  • IronJawz (Start Collecting, and the Battleforce from two years ago)
  • Ogres (original battalion box and a few more figures)
  • Sylvaneth (Latest endeavour, Start Collecting and Drycha)
  • Dark Eldar (Start Collecting, and the gangs boxed game)
  • Eldar (Start Collecting, and a Wave Serpent)
  • Space Marines (assorted assault marines, rhinos and blood angels I was trying to do as flesh tearers)
  • Primaris half of Dark Imperium unbuilt
  • Death Guard (Dark Imperium, blight crawler, extra 3 easy build marines, plus the chaos half of Dark Vengeance which I want to nurgle-ise)
  • Deamons of Nurgle (Start collecting, plus 30 more plague bearers and more nurglings, plus the new blister characters)
  • Necrons (Forgebane half)
  • Orks (grot box, stormboyz, and some random figures from the Revell build and paint sets)
  • Old Skaven Batallion, with extra metal figures and a Doom Wheel
  • Custodes Guard box (Wanted to make a kill team with them)
  • Genestealer cults (Overkill, and the battleforce, plus extra rock grinder)

  • This is anything more than a handful of models. I have a couple of boxes of old metal from when I went on a 'i want rogue trader marines' spending spree, plus all the old figures I had when I was young which involves a lot of bloodbowl metal, Hero Quest, Space Crusade and more. Basically, I have a problem. I'm not sure if this is now a blog, or a cry for help!!

So this blog is to try and focus me on finishing off SOMETHING. At the start, I want to finish off an AOS and 40k army, and then expand out.

Currently, I've been working on Sylvaneth, I have all of the SC box done, barring the tree lord ancient, and Drycha is about 70% completed. I have another box of dryads, four of which have been built up, based and ready for spraying.

as I'm writing this at work I'll add pictures when I get home, and I can start doing some more painting tonight and show the results.

Your pain is our pain. Strangely I was just thinking about how long I have been doing this, how many models I have amassed, how many I have sold/given away, and the sadly disproportionate amount that are actually finished.

Best of luck on the new start and I look forward to seeing your progress whittling down that pile of minis.

Aye I think a lot of us have the "unhealthy horde of unfinished minis" problem, I myself VERY much included. At this current moment in time I have 500 unfinished minis in various states from on sprue to 90% finished.

I will be here cheering for you as you diligently work your way through your list. Best of luck and happy painting!

This is an issue that many players have, because its so easy to fall into. The infinite web, pinterest, youtube and sites like these give you ideas faster than you can complete them. GW's release schedule doesn't help either, the pace is quick and the hype is real. Embarking on a new project is an exciting prospect, and the first few purchases from each new thing are a refreshing release. Sometimes that release is just about letting your mind move on from a previous project that you haven't completed. But before you know it, half way through your space wolves, you suddenly think of an awesome tyranid scheme.

You end up with loads of unpainted or unfinished plastic. I like to think of it like this: Until you are actually playing games with those models (or displaying them if that's your thing) then you don't really own it, you've just paid for it.

I only started playing warhammer again at the start of 2017, and it didn't take me long to start buying plastic at a much faster rate than I was completing it. I have only started to make progress on this by setting myself some strict targets, and ultimately keeping a log of all my purchases and completed models, to track my progress.

I really recommend checking out Tabletop Minions videos on youtube. Uncle Atom does some really great talks about productivity, targets and getting stuff done.

Look forward to seeing some pics of what you get done! Sounds like you are making good progress with Sylvaneth!

Thank you for the support! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one, I just need to work on something now before I become one of those people who has piles of newspapers, one of which falls on them and they die pinned under a mound of sprues.

I need to get some pictures up, I've been so busy, and then when I get home I've been so down looking at my mountain of plastic, that I've not tried anything.

I've decided though to move forward. I've boxed up all items that are not Sylvaneth, and stored them, so the only thing I have out right now, are Sylvaneth, two stormcast that have been converted to be either allies or objective markers, and a pack of Gangs of Rome mob figures (as I really want to try painting some more historic style figures).

I need to finish off the bases a little (the rims for example) and maybe when I feel more confident, do some more highlights, but they are about done.

Right on, man. Looking good. Really like the splashes of color on the bases.

    Thank you!

I'm heading to GW today after work to start on the four dryads needed to make a 20-(wo)man unit, and to get some advice on Drycha. I just can't seem to get her skin to look right.

I'll take some pictures of Drycha at lunch.

I didn't get Drycha finished at all, ended up trying to do other things and play Shade Spire (which was quite fun).

I need a better way to take pictures. This is terrible.

    So, for this week:
  • Based coated Tree Lord Ancient and Dryads
  • Undercoated Skaven Shadespire team
  • Visited Salute, picked up a few things:

  • Green Stuff World small cobblestone roller (for Gangs of Rome), A tentacle/cable maker for my nurgle stuff and a small mixed leaf cutter for my dryads
  • A set of 3 Gaming Gears 'folding' paint brushes
  • 11 Salute WW1 poppy dice
  • A Salute 2017 model and T-Shirt
  • Box of Tree Revenants for Sylvaneth
  • Gangs of Rome starter box
  • two sets of HD Stencils
  • A set of Oathsworn models (I love their figures)

  • Spoiler for the images:
    Spoiler:

Most of my purchases were hobby items rather than models, which I found quite interesting, resisting buying everything that looked fun.

Thank you! I need to get her flesh sorted, and maybe more highlight on the honeycombs. Not sure how, but I'd love to have one or two oozing honey, sadly the only thing I can think of is the Nurgles Rot technical paint, which is not the right colour.

Three hours with a treelord, for... very little.

It's basically Dryad Bark - Nuln Oil - Dryad Bark avoiding recesses. To my eyes, when I hold the model, it looks good. However that's possibly because I spent a collective three hours staring at this model.

Also started the Gangs of Rome - Blood on the Avintine temple scenery, which the dryads decided to claim for their own (That's not dust on my desk, it's overspray from the various airbrush attempts, I need to scrub the top down eventually and then cover it to prevent damage)

Hopefully this is what it will look like. I do need to get some wood glue, as superglue is really not a good option.

I am alive, I think. I've not really done much to be honest, real life has a way of getting in the way of hobbies.

I've read Ragnar Blackmane, an Astra Militarium omnibus (mostly featuring Creed) and now reading Salamanders, and each book makes me burn with the desire to make an army of that faction (barring Salamanders, I really don't like their fluff so far, The Marine Malevolent are much more interesting)

So far, I think I've worked out that I want everything. EVERYTHING.

Currently I am thinking of the DI primaris marines, and wondering what I could do with them. Deathwatch marines? Flesh Tearers? Marines Malevolent?

The thing is, with the new Rogue Trader game being announced, and the 'not nurgle but nurgle' style figures, I wonder if it's time to focus on my nurgle-esque stuff.
