So for those living under the proverbial rock the new hotness for Rebels has caused something of a stir, especially as a mirror match final table when the two players went off to play loopin chewie instead...
The list is;
Lowhhrick — Auzituck Gunship 28
Draw Their Fire 1
Tactician 2
Rey 2
Ship Total: 33

Miranda Doni — K-Wing 29
Twin Laser Turret 6
Harpoon Missiles 4
C-3PO 3
Bomblet Generator 3
Long-Range Scanners 0
Ship Total: 45

Ezra Bridger (Sheathipede) — Sheathipede-class Shuttle 17
Snap Shot 2
Hera Syndulla 1
R3-A2 2
Ship Total: 22

Me and my regular opponent have been practicing for regionals and both have over thirty reps with our lists and we both lost against this list played by a complete novice. To say it is not fun is an understatement, it made me want to fetch a hammer and/or flip the table. This is the closest I have come to just going feth this gak and quitting.

Now after regaining my composure talk turns on how to kill it and the options are few. Alpha strikes seem to be a fair bet but then you have to decide between shooting up the wookie or Miranda, where Miranda gets two guaranteed evades as well as the ability to regen or the wookie who just negates a hit every turn. Meanwhile Ezra just stresses you every time you shoot, oh and this list has a TLT, and infinite bombs... So jousting it with 'poons isn't the most efficient, TLT is just laughed at, any two ship list just doesn't really cut the mustard.

So what am I missing? Short of an FAQ, a big hammer or some C4 how does one beat this horrificness?

That's pretty tough but I'm not sure it's more evil then LowRey, which is the bane of my existence right now. The Khiraxz d**k kick list could probably rip Miranda right up and then out gun fight Low and Ezra.

Control and alpha. Kill Miranda and the list immediately falls apart. Ezra is an ok control element but has minimal direct damage, while the gunship is a pure jousting ship (granted, one with a 180* arc) that is a marginal threat in the endgame against most decent endgame aces. Alpha that can one-shot Miranda before she can regen is pretty much an automatic win, while stress and/or ion control can lock her down and make her ineffective.

Remember that this only happens once per turn. You'll have to spend an alpha shot to take out her one-shot defenses, but after that if you can get a couple more harpoons into her it's game over.

I've seen the game on YouTube. I was stationnary biking through it and I've never felt the kilometers go by so slowly.

But Peregrine has the gist of it. It's not because I put Ezra and Lowie in front that you HAVE to shoot at them. I ran into the same thing with my list where people would spend their fury on Jess Pava to no avail, and then wonder what went wrong.

I got it done to me too with the Inquisitor. I'm thinking it's more a fault in our brains for not analyzing the endgame closely enough and players who can do that are at a marked advantage.

Good points. The list we have used just cant chuck out enough damage to really hurt Miranda in one turn (or the wookie for that matter) so I am thinking of changing things up to deal with both this and the common two ship lists I am likely to play lots of at regionals (looking at you fennghost).

How does this look?
Lok Revenant (26)
Deadeye (1)
Autoblaster Turret (2)
Extra Munitions (2)
Harpoon Missiles (4)
Boba Fett (1)
Long-Range Scanners (0)

Boba Fett was used to *hi*larious results during the Regionals. A player who had it used against him almost ragequit on the spot.

Fenn-Ghost is a lot less of a threat once the TLT is gone, for one.

Yeah, though I see a lot of arguments being that the better target for Boba is the Ghost title. That messes up everything since you can't trigger the Phantom title while docked anymore. So no detaching the Phantom before you die, no double tap, and no primary weapon out of secondary arc.

I didn't think you could target titles. If that's the case does Boba hitting Vaksai make for an auto-win in that it takes your opponent's list over the point cap automatically? Or at least make em' drop the extra mod slots?

No because the legality of upgrades and point costs is only considered at list creation. They also explicitly covered stuff like that with the FAQ regarding Boba Fett. Like Boba can't shoot off your Y-wing Bomb Loadout upgrade and make your bomb upgrade you took no longer legal.

Yeah it is very clearly ruled in the FAQ and even specifically references the Ghost title saying the Phantom title no longer works and the shuttle can no longer deploy and that additions are not affected(p.16).

True, but if you're mobile enough, you can still get out of those arcs and have free reign at it. I'd certainly get rid of Fenn Rau the following turn if that happened, providing he wasn't already off the board. No more Coordinate EU shenanigans.

Yeah Ghost -Fenn you HAVE to kill Fenn Rau first. That no dice mod shtick for just a stress is a stupidly good ability.

I'd say it's balanced, because it is on a fragile platform.

Yeah, IMO the problem is the Ghost. Fenn Rau is not bad, he's good control but not obviously better than all the other control options and vulnerable to things that get around his ability. PS 11 for so cheap (and with no other relevant EPT competing with VI) is a bit of an issue, but that's more of a general problem with the PS mechanic and VI than something specific to Fenn. Nerf the Ghost and Fenn + aces or whatever is much less scary.

At the tourney today the recipe for killing Ghosts is harpoons and glitterstims. Get some non-token dice modding and they go down. Not one Ghost Fenn in the top 8.

The Ghost I don't really see as a problem but coordinate on a ship with PS9/11 is just stupid. If I was into conspiracies I would point out that the Empire only have it on 6/8 platform that costs 34pts!
The pairing of astro/crew as well on such a cheap ship is just nonsense.
Whilst the Sheathpeade is pretty fragile it is a pretty tough thing for a 2 ship list to kill, especially if your oppo keeps it at range and has a big threat closer (like Miranda/Ghost/Rey etc.).

BTW at the tourney my only loss was too the original list you posted, and the only reason I lost was I had to place Jostero first and he deployed everything away from him so I was out of position for my joust. Of course he flew it beautifully and kept Miranda out of my gunsights the entire game. Still punished Low and Ezra, so still got 55 MOV. If I could have got all three of my ships (settled on Jostero, Nym and Dalan) pointed at Miranda I think I could have obliterated her with ease.
