So we've reached this point after such an exciting campaign. Many amazing things happened (though with rather unwise decisions at times <_< ) and have freed countless souls from Nagash of ancient heroes and villains alike with more besides. (It actually makes a nice tie-in too with the upcoming Warhammer Legends focusing on discontinued stuff )

But now there's a creeping time-consuming Black Void threatening the realms, a arcane time cannon exposed for any to make things worse and Khorne's Orb Infernia is still intact and his followers fight to retake it despite the proud Seraphon being revived and defending it.

This doesn't take into account that Nagash and his forces have barely been touched with his pyramid still at the ready.

So many bad and troublesome things are in the mortal realm's horizon despite old heroes returning to help face them.

Are you happy with the result so far, were you hoping for a different outcome at the plot points?

I know I was hoping we focus on the ENCROACHING GIANT BLACK VOID OF TIMELESS DEMISE rather than sack Nagash's lands but eh, the dice fell where they may.

My honest opinion on it? No and yes, no because it seemed really meh as a conclusion. But yes because I know GW is never going to come back and address any of the things you listed. I would be VERY supprised if the time canon ever is a plot device again.

To many unpainted models to count.

I definitely think they will, they came back to the Seeds of Hope campaign and referenced it's cities and changes numerous times even with Firestorm which took place in a different realm so these Global events are used for plot advancement down the road.

We will likely see them used in novels if not new major events. A floating chaos orb that causes people to descend into bloodlust is far too easy to write into a story by itself.

If Skarsnik and Gobbla are properly restored I don't care how it's written.

I feel pretty eh about it all. I doubt anything interesting will come of it. GW has a terrible habit of just dropping things.

I've seen the exact opposite for AoS, even the writers do a good job of connecting everything together. Never thought a vampiress lord mentioned in a blurb in the Fyreslayer tome would have her, quickly mentioned, sister get some focus a year later.

Two super weapons and a massive natural disaster are far harder to forget.

Edit: anyway, let's stay on topic. Was the jailbreak worth it or was it one bad decision.

Any theories on how the Black Void might be resolved?

Apparently fixing it was one option by stealing back time, maybe the time cannon can be used to undo it?

I haven't expected anything. I think I'll like the old heroes making a re-appearance.

Indeed, I hope they use this to flesh out the Age of Myth as well. Lots of heroes being able to recount their tales of it and look over their fallen kingdoms.

Yeah, I just don't know what will come of this. They mention the 'Anvils of the Heldenhammer' seeing their ranks swell, which is just another Stormcast Eternal host, so that's kind of boring. Would have been more interested to see more mention of, oh, I dunno, any other faction seeing their people come back to life.

So, was it worth it? Probably not. If those heroes died in ages past, they'll die again to the greater and wilder magic, more advanced weapons, and crazier circumstances that surround the realms.

I guess all of this is mostly just for fluff, anyway, isn't it? It's probably not going to affect what forces get updated or what models get released. It just creates new settings and situations for the novel and battletome writers to add into future fluff.

Ages past means the Age of Myth. And honestly, gak was crazy enough back then in the age of myth.

So yeah...Anvils of the Heldenhammer are "just another Stormhost", but one that has since their introduction been mentioned as having been "reforged as the Broken World spun under a phase of fell magic. Each of their number hails from ancient times, a warrior of antiquity taken up to Azyr from the grave-cold history of realms that once fought to the death against Chaos."

I think these global campaigns are really cool and I'm glad GW keeps doing them. As for the results, looks cool and I'm excited to see how they play out. What I'm really wondering is what happened to Khorgos Khul. The orb got reset to before he was there, so where did he go?

He most likely was out of the orb.

I assume he was booted out of it, but where, when, and in what state is unclear. He may very well pop back into existence with all his armies intact just in time for the next campaign, have been sent back to the brimstone peninsula in the state he was before going to the orb and no memory of those events, or any of a hundred other possibilities. He could potentially be simply dead but I doubt GW would do that. Would also be boring.

I wouldn't doubt he was reset (death is little concern as his background said Khorne keeps bringing him back anyway), it's likely as you said and he's preparing a new offensive elsewhere while the orb is contested.

Wouldn't be surprised if he goes after that time cannon after someone reminds him what it's capable of. Khorne would likely favor a timeless void that meant people killing and dying forever as well which could be a dire threat.

Ages past means the Age of Myth. And honestly, gak was crazy enough back then in the age of myth.

Indeed, such knowledge from a age of lost wonders and magic would have profound effects when combined with the current magical changes and magi-tech of people like the recently discovered Overlords.

There's also the past heroes of leaders of the Age of Myth's dominant empires and kingdoms that were destroyed far before the realms fell to chaos. It was such mortal armies that beat chaos back before Tzeentch split Sigmar's pantheon apart.

Very likely but that's what I love about it. It's so amazing to be shaping the narrative and creating plots for future novels and rpgs like this. It's our stamp on fictional history that future generations will be reading and inspired by.

That said, this could still affect a board game release or so like Hammerhal. As long as I get my sweet fluff fix. ,)

The jailbreak would make a great setting for a skirmish or path to glory campaign.

While its probably just a background thing(for now at least). Out of all the descriptions of the escapees the "ice-hearted queens" one does IMO seem to stand out from the crowd of generic character descriptions.

I think the jailbreak would be absolutely amazing for an RPG. If only such a thing were on its way for AoS...
