I'm on the fence about making my Wrathmongers for AoS or converting them into cool Khorne Possessed for 40k. I have ten skullreapers and I thought maybe backed by some Wrathmongers they'd be more scary with the +1 attack , but is using a unit that buffs the enemy just silly ? I'm thinking just making another 10 skullreapers would be better but what are others' thoughts in Wrathmongers?

Is there any battalion good for Wrathmongers? I didn't see any in Blades of Khorne.

Wrathmongers aren't for giving the extra attack, they are for running into the nastiest thing the enemy has and making it punch itself. It's very very valuable to include one unit in a Khorne army of any build.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

I mostly use mine to run behind Skarbrand. He gets the buff, opponent doesn't, and with a Bloodsecrator in range, Carnage gets three attacks. It can be pretty awesome, especially if Skarbrand sat out the previous combat turn. I've used them in the traditional way as well with overall good results. If you can justify the points, I say use them.

I forgot about the making enemies hit themselves. That's pretty fun! Coupled with Skarbrand and a gore pilgrims that could be my next tournament army. If it fits in my schedule and points maybe a whole council of blood to put Skarbrand in.

I feel like Skarbrand is wasting a slot in a Council of Blood since he doesn't have a command ability. I feel like the best way to run a council is with one 'Thirster of each type.

*edit Because my brain seems to have Autocomplete enabled. Anyone know how to turn this feature off?*

Skarbrand is valueable because he takes choice away from your opponent. Three generic thirsters and the opponent will be able to pick whichever to prioritize killing. If Skarbrand is there they HAVE to kill him first. Which is really the most valuable thing about Skarbrand in general. Also the main benefit of blood council isn't the command ability thing anyways.

I meant I wouldn't field him as part of the battalion. Put him in the list somewhere else and save those slots slots for the Bloodthirsters who can actually use the bonus.

*Edit*: Just remembered that a model in the battalion can pile in and attack out of sequence if one of the other models wipes out a unit. Yeah. Skarbrand does benefit from the battalion. Disregard.

And it’s 3+ anyway. You can have one of each, plus Skarbrand.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.
