I am very new to the game (have yet to play).. Having said that through a series of events I have the Dark Imperium starter, and an extra set of SM from the same. I also BELIEVE that I have a very old tac squad in storage (but have not been able to find them yet). So, having decided to get into this game...I have figured this out as a list. Most of it is based on "What I have" or what I plan on converting

Story wise When Robert returned he heard of the noble Shadow Wolves destruction and decided to start a new successor chapter based on them. The chapter is an extremely tactical and pragmatic group. While Chapter compliant...mostly, they are more than willing to use other forces of the Imperium to assist them.

1500 Force
1 Battalion (Uses Raven Guard)

HQ (383)
134 Captain in Gravis Armor
101 Primaris Librarian (converted)
148 Primaris LT's (x2)---Sword/Pistol, Bolter/Pistol

Troops (380 points)
380 4 squads of 5 Intercessorss, each with a grenade launcher and power sword

Elites (137)
69 Primaris Ancient
68 Primaris Appothacary (Converted)

Fast Attack (270)
270 2 units of 3 Inceptors with Assault Bolters

Heavy Support (330)
330 Unit of 10 Hellblasters w/Plasma Incinerators

Still working on the other 500 points I need for this area...

I would like to include a unit of the Legion of the Damned (Going to paint those Tac Marines up as ghosts of the original Shadow Wolves.

Might be TOTAL cheese, but I am converting one of the LT's into a Primaris Captain, would like to use him as an UM and Warlord (obviously do not want him in the main battalion)

I would also like to add a battalion of IG, to use as character screens, get some extra CP's...and if I play it right maybe get a situation where I can get even more CP's when my opponent uses one

What I have pointed out is the majority of the minatures I have, so will need to pick up stuff for the other 500 points or so....Any sugestions

Your AM detachment could look like:

Batallion 186 points, +3 cp, any time you or your opponent uses a cp you can mine it on a 5+

Pretty close to what I was thinking...What does Grand Stratagist do...don't have the book yet. I was thinking of adding special weapons to the squads, probably flame throwers or Grenade launchers, to help with guard duty

Grand strategiest allows you a roll everytime you spend a CP, 5+ you get it back. Kurovs Aquila is kinda the same but you roll everytime your opponent spends a cp. This way you can mine both turns for CP.

If you want more CPs you could try to squeeze Creed into your list. Gives you an automatic 2CPs extra but you won't be able to take Grand Strategist. Best to have a think whatever's better: 2CPs or recycling what you already have.

In terms of your SM list, I feel a different chapter tactic would suit these guys better. Additionally, I've never used the Primaris Apothecary before but from players who have, I've heard he's a bit underwhelming.

Hes gonna have 10 cp and he should get at least 3 back on average. I think grand strategist is better for straight up CPs but creed has a lot going for him.

You could take a second commander rather than a psyker and go for a 2nd relic for a command point such as relic of lost cadia.

For 99 points of am AM elite you can take a veteran squad with 3x plasma guns. Your commander can give them an order called FRFSRF, turning them into rapid fire 2 and giving you 4 shots at half range for 12 plasma shots total and relic of lost cadia allowing you to reroll overheats.

Or for 33 pts a pop you can take a hwt squad with 3 mortars, place them out of los and harrass the enemy from safety all game.

i thought that only lasguns and hotshot lasguns were affected by the order?

Thanks for the info. Why I am planning on a UM Captain, I realize that from a points POV it makes more sense to use the Commander as a warlord, but I just don't feel right about not being led by a SM...Even if there is a chapter swap going on

Could you expand on why on the Tactic, also what would you recommend? I do plan on trying out a few, my color scheme is a non standard, so I have flexibility (Purple, silver, wolf Icons)...

As for the Apothecary, ya I'm not amazed, but doing the conversion and figure might as well give him a shot...(Building him out of my extra Ancient)

Some interesting ideas...The idea of a few mortars for my vanguard(?) detachment might work nice (Still trying to decide on elite unit 3)...

Okay, So I did decide on going with a battalion of guard to augment the force...Still very rough but the last 500 looks something like this (With the new rules)
