Our group has lots of minis for Infinity, but after not playing it for awhile, its a lot to digest again and play the current rules as its quite deep/heavy.

Anyone know a lighter ruleset the models can fit into but still has the infinity game feel? (reaction shots/skirmish/etc)

Maybe have a look at Deadzone. There are quite good how to play vids on Youtube to get a feeling of 2.0. Dreadpathzone is a good example.
It may look a bit too light for Infinitiy players at the beginning, but don t be fooled.

Maybe Rogue Stars by Osprey. It uses a D20. It has interesting mission generation system. You build each member of your team from scratch using only a general theme for the team. It has reaction type rolls. The rules are lighter than Infinity, but I wouldn't call them light.

Thanks for the responses.

Tried Deadzone with the group. We kickstarted awhile ago. Played version 2.0 even. It was not good. Issues they fixed in 1.0 they made new issues in 2.0. We canned it

I grabbed Rogue stars but wow, its pretty horrible IMO. Ive seen more then 1 review call it "homework the game" based on all the book keeping and how its all created.

Rogue Stars was not for me, but then again neither was Infinity. I wasn't sure how rules light you were looking to go, but Rogue Stars wasn't as complex as Infinity IMHO. Most other games I can think of make you use specific models.

Perhaps just use the Free starter rules for Infinity?

If you are looking for "lighter" Sci-fi rules I would recommand the following from various places:

Rogue Planet- Very novel game system
Rampant Stars- Lion Rampant in Spaaaace!
Blasters and Bulkheads- Dice Pools
Tomorrow's War- Keeps the action/reaction stuff
Star Army 2150- Two Hour Wargame engine

You might want to check out Code Zero, it has been referred to or compared as an Infinity Light version. It will have beta rules released hopefully by the end of the month.

We have an action/reaction that is close but there are a few differences. The largest differences is players alternate unit activation 1-2 units at a time, instead of IGOUGO with action/reaction which is what Infinity is. The other difference is you can also react with an activation, having that unit activate before another unit (on the chain in a magic the gathering type of resolution). There are some other small differences but the people that have tested and played it often refer to it as an Infinity Light.

The list of pros goes on...

You could reskin using the ultralight KOG light engine

KL is a skirmish scale game that has reactions; however, it abstracts out a LOT of special rules in the process of streamlining things.

Yes, you'd have to restat Infinity models, but it's not that difficult.

Or just play infinity and limit what is taken for either sides army. Like no hackers or no cammo or less points?. Once you've played enough you can easily add in more layers.

Yes, exactly!

As noted above, just use the 'starter' rules and/or leave out the more 'advanced' stuff.

It will still be a lot of fun...
