Hello gamers, General topic of discussion. I’m planning my Dark Angels Veteran squad. I mostly focused on cc with the first three, but I am thinking about dual wielding plasma pistols and/or grav. I can see the pros of plasma, but what about grav pistols? Anyone try this in a game?

Opinions welcome lol.

You're better off with Plasma as chances are you're running a reroll HQ nearby.

I don't know if I would model them dual wielding or at least if I did understand this might get shut down later (haven't heard it anywhere, just my opinion). Honestly, I don't think the game designers intended it exist (outside of Cypher) and it could be a rules oversight. Not because it is powerful, but because GW doesn't want regular non-character marines guns akimbo in the game. I think because it isn't that powerful, it hasn't reached their radar yet.

Vanguard vets have bein able to duel wield pistols for ages. Aso I think Plaz is the way to go ATM it just dose more damage vs everything.

Ultramarine 6000 : Imperial Knights 1700 : Grey Knights 1000 : Ad mech 500 :Nids 4000 : Necrons 500 : Death watch 500

Good to know. I have never seen models that way so I assumed that it was a more recent thing. Plus, given the FAQ invalidating one of my push-fit models, I am even more gun shy about modelling seemingly outliers.

Thanks for the pointers. My thoughts are the cc guys take the brunt while the plasma pistol or grav pistol behind adds some cheap firepower.

Classic plasma vs grav debate.

I plan on running the crew with a chaplain if that helps.

If you are looking for sheer damage output dual plasma rules the roost as far as pistol options go - especially for DA with their + damage plasma stratagem (if you can re-roll the 1s ALWAYS overcharge unless you are firing at guardsmen). These guys will cook Leman Russes.

If you are going down this road you should know that, for the most part, what you are doing is strictly worse than taking normal plasma guns. However, if you are clever (and lucky) with your charges, one quite good thing you can do is surround a big fat tank so it can't fall back from combat and shoot it twice each turn.
