I say yes, it's amazing and definitely needed a bump, but 40 points? I don't think so.

Agreed. I'm not even sure why it needed to be buffed in CA in the first place. 180 pts including all wargear seems like a fair price. 160 was too low.

That initial point drop in CA is what allowed the DT spam at this years LVO and adepticon. It really didnt need to be nerfed this hard.

I agree, I thought 180 would have been great. But the more I think about it 200 is still in the ballpark of competitiveness. It's actually the hemlock that brought me to that point of view. I'm an eldar player first and foremost, but I think the dark talon is just better than the hemlock, not by a mile, but by a bit. The hemlock is more durable but puts out less damage, and most crucially isn't as versatile. The hemlock is great for going against MC/tanks, but the talon is great against both tanks and infantry. The hemlock has smite, but between the stasis bomb and the rift cannon table the talon essentially has smite as well. The hemlock auto hits which is amazing, but the talon has extreme weight of fire. Basically I think they're very comparable, and now they're essentially the same price, I can live with that.

Dark Talons can zip 60" and fire all weapons at BS2+. They are a steal at 200 points.

24 S4AP0D1, d3 S10AP-3D3 shots WERE a steal at 160 pts when it was literally a flying vindicator. 180 is fair, 200 is pricey but not overpriced. I felt like the original 188 pt really hit the mark.

Again, I think that's right.

188pts was just fine, 160pts was too low. So if we're really being honest, we got bumped 12pts. Is 12pts increase enough to warrant the flyer being put on the shelf? I don't think so, but it does make the option an actual decision than an auto take. I can get a Redemptor dread with Hvy onslaught, onslaught, and frag launchers for exactly 200pts. Decisions, decisions.

At 175pts, the Nephilim becomes an option (with Avenger) or even 190pts with twin las where before it was never a better choice than Dark Talon.

I would have preferred 180pts, but we don't get everything we want.

I think all the mortal wound potential is what still pushes it far over the edge. If you go against any kind of horde army, guard, nids, orks, an air wing detachment of these are going to average 15 mortal wounds for just flying over them, the put 72 bolter shots into them, I think that's definitely worth 200 points a pop.

I concur with other posters. 160pts was a steal and wasn't surprised by a change. But 200 seems rather too much. Not enough to stop using it. But enough to make one question using it. There must be a reason it went down. Thus if there's a reason to put it back up then why not revert to the original cost. The mortal wounds is a great boon. But the lack of reliable shot number on the Rift Cannon and the T6, W10 hurt it somewhat. It seems a bit reactionary to see such frequent and large points swings. 180 area would be more where id put it
Though I'm willing to spend 200 and drop an upgrade or three elsewhere in my list.

Yeah I agree that it's defenses are it's weak point. I'd like to see it with 12 wounds, in-line with a crimson hunter. And I think most on this thread agree somewhere between 180-190 would have been the sweet spot.
