I know this has probably been talked about ad naseum, but I'm having difficulty finding an clear threads. Has this been clarified that indeed a Ravenwing Dark Talon can advance and use this stratagem to fire it's heavy weapons? Albeit with a -1 to hit.

Does the Ravenwing Dark Talon have the RAVENWING keyword? The answer to that is the answer to whether it can use the stratagem or not.

The stratagem says "That unit can still shoot", so it can fire any of it's weapons.

It would be very rare that you need to use this stratagem on a dark talon however since it comes with strafing run.

It would only come into play if you really need to make that 40"~60" movement AND need to shoot.

Unless of course, your opponent decided to deploy all of his units behind 9.25" from their board edge when playing hammer and anvil deployment.

I'm thinking more about survivability. It's really nice to be able to have -1 to hit and a 4++ if you think the talon is going to be taking a lot of incoming fire. I'm referring to the jink special rule ravenwing have, if they advance they get a 4++ against shooting attacks. But you can't advance and shoot heavy weapons. The speed of the raven stratagem allows you to advance, get the 4++, and still fire all your weapons.

He's referring to the innate Hard to Hit.

He wants the dark talon to be in Supersonic mode, advance & get Jink active, and still fire as normal with SotR.

With that combo, the dark talon has BS+3 w/ +1 to hit from Strafing Run, with -1 to hit from Hard to Hit, ++4 against shooting from Jink, shooting all his weapons as normal.

Exactly Skchsan, thanks for the clarity.

Yes it can benefit from speed of the Raven and have used it to great effect in the past zooming into the players deployment, killing their warlord, then absorbing all the retaliation using the 4++. Not a bad deal for 1CP.

I can confirm having fallen victim to this numerous times that it is a nasty and rather effective tactic and draws a lot of fire otherwise moves along to the next character.
