Subject: Why doesn't ITC have weight classes?

It would be really interesting to see big tourneys dedicate different weight divisions.
Some units are really good when played in a smaller pt game settings and some are really bad in smaller games.
Say, if the major tourneys had a 1000 pt division and 2000 pt division, and on the side a killteam tournament.
If there are different divisions, I feel like there will be less "OMG THESE UNITS SUCK, WHY DID GW INCLUDE THEM IN MY DEX!! THEY SHOULD JUST REMOVE THEM!! THEY'RE WORTHLESS!!"

The big conventions often have lots of various tournament types - team, doubles, etc. Some apocalypse games, too. There is something for everyone typically.
I'm not sure the game balances any better at 1,000 points, but you're sure to see Kill Team tournaments when that comes out.

I think like 1500, 1850, 2000 tournaments would be great... but they already have problems with judges and space and all sorts of logistical issues that just magnify if you have different sections of play.

It doesn't balance better but you will see a different meta. You're much more likely to see miss matches as it can be harder to fit in enough to deal with all commers.

This is the precise basis in which I initiated this discussion.
I've been play a lot of 1000 quickies at FLGS. The dynamics of the game is very different. in one game I'd see LR spam gets wiped by melta spam lists (particularly so aince the board also gets smaller), and full power armor SM list with no girlyman dominating many games. I'd also run all termie lists here and there and they dont get wiped in turn 1. When the pt restrictions limits a player from min-maxing and spamming, many units hat's otherwise unusable in higher point games suddenly become usable.

I thought you were speaking of weight classes for people attending their events, like a division for newbies a tournament for old and well known experienced players etc

And when I read your "...weight classes for people attending..." I could've swore you were gonna finish it with a fat joke.
The caliber of the critical masses between armies @ 2000 pt is staggering - it's really difficult to break the quantity-is-its-own-quality meta.
