How would you equip the space marine tartaros terminators? I'm having a hard time deciding how to build mine.

I did mine as 3x Lightning Claws, 1 Reaper Autocannon and chainfist, and Sarge with Power Sword and Volkite. Trying to make the best use of the increased move range and Volkite is just because.

All Combi-Bolters + Autocannon, max out the grenade harnesses, and give the Sergeant a Plasma Blaster.

Lightning Claws would make the squad cheaper and more geared towards killing infantry like all the range weapons they have would suggest.

I did mine nearly the same, but the sargeant has too 3 lighting claws.

I really love how they look with lighting claws, but yeah I believe what slayer-fan said is the most optimal loadout.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

Pin the arms, that way you don't have to lock them into one loadout.

If you want Terminators with all Lightning Claws, you want the Cataphractii pattern. The 4++ works better there, they charge just like anyone else, and you were likely going to have a reroll for that charge. Then if they don't make it...you have a 4++ to fall back on against any AP-3 that is going to hit their direction (which will likely be a good amount).

If you fail the charge with Cataphractii, any competent opponent will just kite them, especially if they have no shooting. They are too slow. At least with the Tartaros, they move just as fast as most infantry, so if you fail the charge you might get a second chance if the squad lives through your opponent's turn.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

They're gonna kite any Terminator variant, even if they have a 6" move. You might as well go for more survivability at that point and, like I said, you're looking for rerolls on charges anyway. If you don't make it...gotta live through the shooting phase.

That’s why you take a raven.

Bow down to Guilliman for he is our new God Emperor!

Martel - "Custodes are terrible in 8th. Good luck with them. They take all the problems of marines and multiply them."

"Lol, classic martel. 'I know it was strong enough to podium in the biggest tournament in the world but I refuse to acknowledge space marines are good because I can't win with them and it can't possibly be ME'."

DakkaDakka is really the place where you need anti-tank guns to kill basic dudes, because anything less isn't durable enough.

I use chainfists for everybody and bolters on the bulk with a reaper and plasma blaster on Sgt.

they love goin into monsters esp Hive tyrants. the chainfists really have been good for me. it is kinda expensive but I've always found it worthwhile.

Magnetizing them seems to be the way to go, though that's a bit of a pain since you then also have to magnetize the shoulder pads (or buy spares, I guess).

I'm leaning towards equipping mine with power fists and combi bolters, an autocannon, and a sergeant with chainfist, plasma blaster, and grenade harness. Probably accompanied by a termie chaplain to help mitigate the power fists. They have the same problems all terminators do though, not a ton of punch for the points; the unit I just described costs 246.
