So my friend and I had a interesting scenario we would like your opinion on the matter.

So a bit of background I was playing Ultramarines and he was playing Necrons.

I wanted to charge Gman into a group on necron destroyers that was in the bottom level of the ruins. The ruins we play have a bottom level that has no windows at the front ( the current Sanctum Imperialis) but I positioned Gman in way to see them from the side enabling me to initiate a charge.

From what I understand RAW is that as long as I finish my charge move within a inch of them the charge was successful and can fight.

The issue we have is the whole moving through walls and is that also in effect in the fight phase (even if I don't move).

- From my point of view as im not attempting to move through the walls and I have no need move/pile in as I will be within a inch of them the move through walls rule is not in effect.

- His point of view is that because I want to fight a unit and cannot move through walls I cant fight.

What do you guys think.

TLDR; Does the move through walls count in the fight phase, even if you are able to make it within a inch of a enemy model.

BTW, You do not need Line of Sight to declare a charge.

This is true.

As long as you are within 1 inch you can fight. Having a wall between the two units does not matter as long as the models are within 1 inch of each other.

And did I miss something about not being able to use your pile in move?

First, you dont need to see them, to charge them. Infantry can move through walls like they are not there, they ignore them. You can even attack in CC through a wall, if you are within 1".

Brilliant news, thanks for the confirmation folks.

The Monster keyword was the bit causing the issue.

Thanks!

Yes, regardless of the walls in the way if you're within an inch you can fight.

Gman is not infantry so could not pile in through a ruin wall (weird huh). so effectively if the destroyers survive he could kill off the closest model and effectively be out of combat in the next phase ... as Gman could not consolidate through the wall either (yeah still weird .. neither can a knight a titan or a shadowsword knock down that pesky bit of rubble) (not really important on destroyers as they can fly away anyways)
