Hi all,

Just wanted to share a list I'm going to be trying out next week for the fun of it as I'm wanting a little variety away from the standar Necron play style.

1993 points

Spearhead Detachment
Nephrek Dynasty

Destroyer Lord with Warscythe, phylactery, nanoscarab casket, and warlord trait for -1 to hit
X5 Scarabs
X5 Scarabs
X9 Scarabs
X6 Wraiths
X6 Wraiths

Vanguard detachment
Novokh dynasty

Cryptek with cloak and Veil of Darkness
X10 Lychguard with shields
X10 Praetorians with particle casters and voidblades
C'tan shard of the Nightbringer

Total CP = 5

The Plan:

A straightforward, in your face assault. The Cryptek accompanies the Lychguard who initially hangs back (I assume the first turn reserves rule applies to the Viel of Darkness) before using the Viel to lunge the Lychguard for a more forward position, likely more centre-field. The Cryptek has the cloak as the 5+ invul is not needed for the Lychguard and with the cloak it gives better mobility to grab objectives / repair himself for D3 wounds. Novokh only applies to the Cryptek and Lychguard for then in combat, although the Cryptek is only there for the RP.

The Nightbringer will take himself up the centre with the 9 Scarabs. I'll decide the power when I know what my opponent is bringing.

Wraiths will split to 2 groups, deployment based on my opponent. The idea being in the first instance to use my limited CPs (only 4 after the second relic) to allow them to charge after the 6" advance.

Praetorians, depending on enemy deployment, will represent a second wave to mop up whatever the Wraiths couldn't finish when they fell back behind enemy lines to target enemy characters / firebases.

The Destroyer Lord is there as I want him to be Tanky. He will accompany a unit of wraiths.

Finally the 2 smaller Scarab bases will mainly live in my back field for objective purposes. They are nice and small, easy to hide out of LOS and fast when you include their 6" advance. If needed, they can also lunge forward to tie stuff up.

Overall, I don't expect it to really be that effective, but my opponents are used to a durable gun line and it'll be nice to play them differently for a change

I like it. Have you considered Novokh for the first detachment? I feel like having re-rolls to hit on your charge might be more useful than upgrading the D6" advance to a 6" advance.

I played a list very similar to your first detachment at the 1000pt level versus a Khorne Daemon list with two Bloodthirsters (one of them Skarbrand) and 30x Bloodletters. I ended up tabling him. It can be a pretty effective list under the right circumstances.

I had but in honesty I figured that Nephrek would give me a much faster army and therefore more reactionary - especially for the Scarabs
