The following comments are to increase the competitiveness of your list.

If you are going with Cadian and tanks, Pask is a no brainer. The punisher gatling canon fits him perfectly with a full hvy bolters setup. Idem for the tank commander, punisher is an excellent choice.

You have second choices as canons for your tanks. Stick with the battle canon, lascanon and hvy bolter sponson. Always take the stormbolter on all vehicles.

You have vox casters on your infantry, but no officer to give orders… The command squad seems like a complete waste of points the way it is structured and it is illegal as you don’t have any officer. Go full sniper or full plasma. Forget the medipack. Pointwise, take an enginseer to heal your Shadowsword...

A missile launcher team increase your infantry squad cost by 50%. Mortar is a more cost efficient choice. Lascanon is a more antitank efficient weapon. The main firepower of infantry squads comes from the order first second rank fire that double the rate of fire of their flashlights, so I prefer them vanilla. Drop the missiles and get some Company commanders.

I assume the veterans goes in the chimera, but they have a very poor choice of weapons so I can’t figure their battlefield role. Your chimera should either be full flamer or full range. But in your setting, it feels like a waste of points.

You should take a second set of sponson on your Shadowsword. Psykers are good to give defensive buff as your lord of war will be the center of attention. So you put it behind cover, with the Take cover stratagem and the Nightshroud/Psychic barriers powers. Points to buy psykers could come from the veteran squad and its chimera… So if you add Officers HQ, Enginseer HQ from Admech and some primaris psyker, you should have enough HQ to fill a supreme command det that will add some regiment benefits to your Shadowsword and increase your command points by 1… Your Shadowsword will like the reroll of 1 if it does not move and the Overlapping field of fire stratagem.

Hope it helps!

All great advice! As far as why things don't really make sense... it was all about points... but in 7th Edition.

To explain... I had intended to play Death Guard when 8th launched, but very shortly after it launched, I met the woman who has a son. The woman is now my fiance, and I'm looking forward to having a wife and a stepson in the near future. So, I have very, very little time to paint these days and don't really have a lot of money to put toward anything Warhammer. But, the vast majority of my Guard were already painted making it much easier to use that army than to try to paint an entire additional army.

As far as the Shadowsword goes, it was the only IG model I bought after my now fiance and I started dating. Yes, I could probably pull off putting a second set of sponsons on it. I'd have to buy the expansion sprue (I think it's only $25), but I could do it. The problem is that the sections where I could mount that second set of turrets has already been covered during the initial build. It would look rather out of place, but it is possible. Something to think about.

As far as the rest of the models that I have, they were meant specifically for a 7th Edition Cadian Battle Group with a Battle Group Command, Emperor's Fist Armored Company (Tanks) and Emperor's Shield Infantry Company (Troops). The reason I chose Grenade Launchers over any thing else was so that it would fit into the points needed for the 7th Edition formation. I think I was putting the minimum number of troops into the formation and trying to keep it within the, at that time, 1850 points that ITC had as their limit.

Since the formation required an Enginseer, I do have one (has not been painted yet). I can work that in somewhere. And 7th Edition needed Vox Casters where it seems they don't play anywhere near as big of a roll in 8th. Unfortunately, those models already have Vox Casters on them. And, WYSIWYG being as it is, they will most likely remain Vox Caster troops.

So, that's why they are equipped as they are.
