I'm thinking about picking up some FW Cataphactii Terminators for my WE. But I was thinking, with the codex at the end of the year (supposedly), there will inevitably be new plastic Cataphactii Terminators for WE right?

I'm not sure you know what inevitable means!

We don't even know there will be a dedicated World Eaters codex, let alone the details of exactly what models might come with it.

And even if they did release new models, I'm not convinced that (in 40k) archaic terminator armour patterns are the obvious choice.

I vote no.

Unlikely you'll be getting a WE specific or even Chaos specific Cataphractii kit in plastic. Heck, even WE are a distant rumour and it could be 2020 before that happens, if it does at all.

I'm going to echo this.

There's nothing official that says this codex is coming. There are rumours, some from trusted rumour people. But until there is an official post through a Games Workshop channel I wouldn't assume anything for sure.

If we do get a codex this year, that doesn't mean there would be any new kits, and if there were new kits then Cataphracti would be very low down the list of contenders in my opinion. They could easily not even have access to Cataphracti in the codex.

Just because Death Guard got a full range of kits doesn't mean we can assume World Eaters would. Things aren't always done symmetrically with GW.

I say just buy em now if you like them!

I wouldn't assume a codex for WE is coming at the end of the year, if we are going to see a chapter specific book for CSM I would assume Fulgrim would make his return. He has come up quite a few times now in the new fluff.

A Song of Ice and Fire - House Greyjoy.
AoS - Maggotkin of Nurgle, Ossiarch Bonereapers & Seraphon.
Bloodbowl - Lizardmen.
Horus Heresy - World Eaters.
Marvel Crisis Protocol - Avengers, Brotherhood of Mutants & Cabal.
Middle Earth Strategy Battle game - Rivendell & The Easterlings.
The Ninth Age - Beast Herds & Highborn Elves.
Warhammer 40k  - Tyranids.

As for Primarchs, I think it's difficult to say who we'll see first out of Fulgrim and Angron. Fulgrim has been more active, bit so has Angron. There are some people predicting an Armageddon campaign this year, which would tie nicely in to Angron. All guesswork at this point of course!

Can't you getbthese terminators already in plastic? They're pretty cheap online because they come from bundles.

Yeah Angron has also been fairly active so it's mainly guesswork, I'm excited either way to see more deamon primarchs

I think a World Eaters Codex is a given, and a terminator specific unit too (Just like death guard and thousand sons).

But this year? I don't know. I think is more of a 2019 thing.

I mostly just wanted to get them to have really nice looking Terminators.

As for WE lore, the Red Butchers are in Cataphactii armour. I'd love for them to move over to 40k, but that's a pipedream.

Well, look at the Death shroud ones.

You can get them in plastic it seems...and they come with weapons. I'd still use the axe kit from FW though.

Would some sort of berserker terminator be more thematic for WE? Maybe weaker defences but a bajillion attacks and slightly faster on the charge?

I'd like to think so. If DG and TS can have specific terms I think WE and even EC should have them. The lore supports it.

When the World Eaters get redone I would absolutely expect to see a new kit for berzerkers, a few terminator variants, some custom cultist, and maybe a tank kit or daemon engine. But we don't actually KNOW when that will happen.

From Iron, cometh Strength. From Strength, cometh Will. From Will, cometh Faith. From Faith, cometh Honour. From Honour, cometh Iron. This is the Unbreakable Litany, and may it forever be so

My thought process is, DG got the Deathshrouds from 30k to 40k. So maybe WE will get the Red Butchers? One can hope. I'm gonna hold of on my Terminators purchase in the meantime.
