Has Archaon been active much in the mortal realms of late? I haven't been reading much lately aside from the Malign Portents snippets, but haven't seen anything with him. Also, what would be the best god-tome to run him with lately? At first Tzeentch seems good for the unkillableness with treacherous bond, plus the destiny dice for kingslayer. But I'm thinking now with Khorne Bloodbound he'd be better with all the cheaper HQs they can get with command abilities to buff 3 mortal khorne units. Maggotkin, meh?

Tzeentch has more or less been the top army since it's battletome, even after the small nerfs it got with GHB2. But if you're looking to build an army around them I'd be a little wary since the top armie(s) are the most likely to get hit with the nerf bat.

So ultimately I would pick the god you like best because you can't go wrong on that angle.

I guess the best match should be with Khorne for what you said, anyway it can be interesting with daemons (bloodletters, plaguebearers or horrors), since it has the ability to modify the roll of the battlesock (1-3 -> 1d6 models returning sounds interesting)
