Well, after playing through the Operation Icestorm starter with a friend, I decided to jump into the game with the Steel Phalanx.

Just to keep it simple I bought the 300 point starter, since after using Infinity Army to price it out, it is actually a 300 point army... And the Steel Phalanx look fantastic. But, where do I go from here? The Steel Phalanx line of models for Aleph is huge, and am a bit lost as to what the best way to expand my army will be.

Gathering the Informations.

Thorakitai box, Steel Phalanx starter(the 300pt box is gone but I'm pretty sure it didn't include that?), and any of the heroes is a good thing to expand with.

Machaon is an amazing model and his rules are really really good too, he's probably the best of the special characters you can expand with (seeing as you already have Phoenix). The Dire Foes set with Thrasymedes is also pretty good, especially if you can split it with a Nomad player, and the Steel Phalanx starter gives you some more options to play with (including combi and chain rifle Thorakitai, your other main link team option). For Myrmidons you might want another box, but the one you have is more than enough to start, and pretty much all of the characters in Phalanx can link with them. If you want a big hitter TAG equivalent (other than Ajax) there's Achilles, but he's not overly vital in terms of list building

I mainly play 30k, but am still fairly active with 40k. I play Warcry, Arena Rex, Middle-Earth, Blood Bowl, Batman, Star Wars Legion as well

Oh wow, thank you guys for thr information. So it looks like my next purchases will be the (smaller) Steel Phalanx starter since it gives me more Myrmidons with basic weapons and the hacker, Atalanta for good sniper support, and Machaon.

Gathering the Informations.

The smaller Steel Phalanx starter only includes a single Myrmidon, specifically the Myrmidon Hacker model.

The other three models are Thorakitai, a different unit entirely.

Consider Teucer instead of Atalanta. He is a much more versatile sniper.

Ah. Thank you for that. I haven't heard anything about him. I will look into him tonight!

Whoops! You are totally correct! Guess I will include a box of Myrmidons in my purchase list as well.

So reading through the rules. It looks like I can 4 man Myrmidon link teams? The easy access to a wide variety of link teams has me toying with the idea of doing something like this:

-4 man Myrmidon link.
-3 man Thorakitai link.
-3 models operating independently (sniper, biker, and one more)

Is trying to push for having over ten models even worth it? And are there any good remotes that can be used purely for ARO's?

Total Reaction remotes are made for AROs. The Rebots, specifically the Zayin Rebot. They're moderately useful against experienced players. It's a box of two.

So, I think this is what I am going to work on building towards. Not sure how it will do, but after watching around 50 Bat Reps, the six starter games I got in using the Icestorm box, and the advice from here... I am pretty happy with it.

Would love some thoughts into this, and any glaring faults it may have.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
To make things easier on my wallet, I have been considering swapping the Thorakitai Forward Observers into an SMG Thorakitai, and one with a Combi-Rifle. Didn't realize only one of the Thorakitai in the starter have a Chain Rifle/SMG.

Hi.
I've just found this thread and... I think that you should try the Ekdromoi.

If you are new to INFINITY and you are using SteelPhalanx I think you are not used to have any Special deployment units.
The Ekdromoi can perform Combat jump, essentially succeeding at a PH roll and land on the battlefield wherever you can place a round template.

If you are sued to Myrmidon fireteams by now, you will enjoy a lot the advantage of being able to drop a guy behind the usual enemy snipers and hit them hard up close and personal.

Good luck.

Thank you for that! I will have to look into them for sure!

I have held off buying anything else until I get more games in with the 300 point starter pack, and really learn what I have for now.

However, that is giving me much more time to think about what to add after getting more Myrmidons.
