So I've been having some trouble with my lists of late, and have been trying to find a way to survive an Alpha strike and to deal out enough damage in subsequent turns with what I have left. If I get first turn, I'm confident I should be able to win against most lists.

The list as follows: (making sure that there is sufficient LOS blocking terrain and deploying accordingly) (14 CPs)

I had previously had a brigade but with the new FAQ and beta rules, I've freed up some of the fat in the elites and FA slots and used a battalion instead. I'm not entirely sold on keeping the sentinels, but I don't know what else will push forward the bubble to deny Necron veil re-deployment of destroyers to get too close to my vehicles.

I think you need a 3rd fast attack choice to make that a brigade. Which reminds me, I think I have to fix my list too lol.

Edited, I meant a battalion lol.

How would you feel about running the tempestus as a vanguard with 3 primes and 3 command squads and dropping the scions? Could grab that third sentinel for a brigade, upping your command points and a few more for a master of ordinance for your basilisk and manticores. Maybe throw some plasma pistols on the primes.

For a smaller scale suggestion I'd trade the heavy flamers on the sentinels for autocannons and try to keep them out of harms way instead. Use LOS blocking terrain to hide them. I mean, definitely use them as a picket too but after that.Try and grab objectives or linebreaker at the last second.

What's the psyker nightshrouding?

Fair points - but I'm not sure outside of the 2.1 ratio for primes and command squads that they are worth buying primes for? I've played a bit with the list, and the basilisk performed fairly well. I made a huge mistake of not getting 3 sentinels to scout forward as I had 2 C'tan and a tesseract vault in my face on turn 1 before I could do anything.

So I took out heavy weapons and included a Bullgryn squad to counterattack. I'll be deploying in a refused flank with all my artillery in 1 corner, (having deployed 'feint' units elsewhere such as mortars and sentinels to disguise my deployment when combined with the units in deepstrike). Incidentally if I ever do get first turn, I reckon the alpha-strike potential of this list is very strong.

I think you should give kurovs aquila to a different commander. If you loose the warlord you won't loose all of the CP farming abilities. Company commanders are quite squishy and nice targets for snipers, almost every faction has a unit that specializes in character hunting.

Also a fair point. My reasoning was that I could hide one commander relatively well, and that the other company commanders would be moving up with the infantry to issue orders. Might be good to not place all my eggs in one basket however.
