I played the open Beta they had and it was a lot of fun. I own the metal versions of the minis and they are great.

I am a big By Fire and Sword fan so loving that they have some 28mm models now.

If you back within the first 24 hours you get a free Milady miniature. In either plastic or metal.

They posted a shot of plastic vs metal (metal is darker grey). And the first stretch goal is Tyrion.

I pledged! I'll watch the gameplay videos and decide if it is for me, but visually and thematically it looks great.

First few stretch goals unlocked! Looks like they are also running a Polish crowd sourcing campaign as well also they are using the combined total for the stretch goal unlocks.

Hah, that Zagloba mini is a pretty good 28mm likeness of Pawlikowski.

Think I'll break my KS fast for this one.

also here is the link to the Polish crowd funding, in case you want to follow along:

Right now its roughly sitting at $15,000 dollars so things are moving well in both platforms.

Might be due to them launching at a weird time US, but this campaign picked up steam on day two:

I suspect a lot of people did know about this Kickstarter coming. The By Fire and Sword community did, but the general population probably not.

There are a few cool things inbound soon, namely the 3 and 4 player expansion!

Also the day one free mini, you can now add her on for anyone pledging late, so you do not miss out on the game content. 6 dollars for plastic and 10 dollars for metal. There was also a video comparison of the plastic prototypes from the factory posted in the comments, but im having trouble locating it. These are not the printed masters, but actual production minis. They look quite good!

I think they need to add more supernatural stuff to the base game, as right now it just looks like a fencing/brawling game set in historical Vienna.

Also, they said in the comments no Dutch warband, despite this being set during the height of the Dutch Golden Age. So maybe Spanish?

No. I must respectfully and strongly disagree. The werewolf is already too much. It would be a shame to ruin this with ridiculous supernatural nonsense. I love the three musketeers and am fond of the little I know of the Sienkiewicz trilogy. It would be a shame to see effort and stretch goals wasted on that sort of thing.

Glory is fleeting, but obscurity lasts forever.

Considering also your duty as a warrior you should not waver. Because there is nothing more auspicious for a warrior than a righteous war.

The creator has stated that there will be more supernatural stuff added and that if you don’t like that aspect it can be left out to maintain a more historically accurate game.

Personally, I like the supernatural aspect. I wouldn’t mind seeing some underworld type vampires to do battle with the musketeers, etc.

I think I would prefer more human nationality troops first though.

To each their own, but "supernatural" is what's advertised. While I only know of a couple historical skirmish rulesets for this time period off the top of my head I'm sure there are many many more. The supernatural tastefully combined with historicals is what sets this apart (hopefully!)

What other human factions do you gentleman want to see?

This looks interesting. With at least a bit of knowledge about some of the source material, it was enough to get me to back.

Card mechanic reminds me of Malifaux a bit.

I'm definitely interested in the supernatural bits. If they do like Joan of Arc, where you can pick and choose to keep certain aspects out of the game, that'd be great.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

They said in the comments that you can play the game 100% historical.

I've been going back over the sculpts, and they really are works of art. These have to be the best Musketeers sculpts out there bar none. I also really enjoy the nice traditional poses like the guy loading his breech loading musket, etc.

Are you guys going metal or PVC for this one? I've been quite underwhelmed by the PVC stuff I've received from various kickstarters... and I have a lot from the company's considered to be doing the best with the material that is possible right now. Hard to tell from the comparison pictures if much detail is lost.

I'm going with PVC. The sample plastic looks good, and they are wargamers, so they understand the importance of good details. I find metal to just be such a pain to keep the paint from chipping, it just isn't worth it for me. Even in a worst case scenario and the plastic details don't turn out great, these would still be significantly better miniatures than the current existing historical miniatures out there.

I'm going with PVC as well. The plastic samples do look good. Plus I like the lighter weight for travel and storage, and if I feel the need to convert, plastic is easier. Plus no assembly required for the plastic. All that and cheaper too, makes it an easy choice for me.

I do have some of their metal figures from Hot and Dangerous, which are very nice, but the assembly was a PITA on some of them. Not Malifaux PITA, but still a PITA.

Add on today for the broken cross faction:

Some cool armored dogs and an evil alchemist.

Hyped for that. Many heroes from childhood and quite unique mix. Hope that with time this go in tabletop full flaged skirmish direction. I grab plastic, on vid prototypes looks crisp and sturdy.

I'm in super natural camp to. In that time belive in Devils,Witches, Vempires etc. was quite strong. Strong enough to hang or burn peoples and dig up graves and mutilate dead bodys. Plus unnatural creatures can bring not only fluff, but interesting mechanic to.

I feel that for a PVC model to look good it has to be specifically designed for PVC, taking into account shrinkage, having deeper than normal detail etc... are there examples of models that have been released in both metal/resin and PVC that look great in both formats?

Today's add on:

Ibrahim is carrying the Necronomicon! Which comes with spells (from actual grimoires of the time) that can be used in game! I'm very excited to learn more about this.

@Myrmean, I get what you are saying about PVC miniatures. The factory example of PVC they feature on the KS page (also in OP here) looks good to my eye. Also there is a video going around somewhere (I haven't found it) in which they show more examples, and people say they look good. In addition, several blogs (like Anatolis Game Room ) report raising these issues of PVC quality with the creators, and them responding that they understood the issue and wouldn't do plastic if they couldn't get great results. (See here http://anatolisgameroom.blogspot.com/2017/03/anno-domini-1666-upcoming-game-from.html?m=1 and Anatolis responses in AnnoDomini 1666 thread on Lead Adventure Forum)

It is a 2 player only game now. But the next stretch opens up a new mode of play that allows up to 4.

Hi, thank you all for taking interest in our game. I will try to drop by here once in a while and address some of the issues raised.

The game does have fantasy elements that some players may not enjoy. You may want to know our "magic" follows the rules as people in the 17th century imagined them. Yes, we actually did historical research on magic. If this does not convince you, the vast majority of these fantasy elements are in add ons, so you can keep your game "realistic" by simply not buying these add ons. Admittedly, there is the Gypsy character who can perform Divinations, but her powers relate to card manipulation, not summoning demons.

Anno Domini 1666 was conceived as a two-player skirmish miniatures wargame that soon morphed into a board game. The "one-vs-many" rules were heavily discussed internally, and finally the backers' feedback pushed us over the fence and if the stretch goal gets unlocked, they will be in the final game.

If you are not sure about the quality of our plastic, our friends at Private Brush, a professional miniature painitng outfit, did a stream that might answer some of your questions on their Facebook page, but I can't post links in the first post of a new account, pehaps I'll be able to link to it later If you still prefer metal miniatures, there is the option to upgrade every AD1666 product to metal cast. Please note that plastic minis come assembled and ready to play straight our of the box, while metal minis require assembly and gluing (I apologize if this sounds silly on a wargaming forum, it's just good practice to mention these differences).
