No. They’ll likely wind up being in an auction for one of dad’s favorite charities, as we did with his bikes. Don’t know when, mind you. But I think them finding new nerdy homes while also helping others seems so much better than them sitting in storage boxes.

I’d always heard he was an Ork player with a massive collection. Guess there was a kernel of truth in it: he did have some 40k models.

Scrolling down past the owls (soooo many owls) she says that they found "thousands" though it also includes lots of toys as well in the photos. So chances are its a huge mix of things from Warhammer to all sorts.

So even without the mark of being owned by hum some of its going to be rare just through its age and limited availability.

There would be a lot more.

Also his rpg collection.
He was a big fan (and player) of the Paranoia rpg, as well as the old Cyberpunk 2020 ruleset (and he used to drop into a games store in Alameda where some friends used to play ).

I believe she only posted pics of models she couldn't identify, which is why we see this unusual stuff.
More standard 40K miniature might not fall into that category, especially if she knew he was collecting them.

He used to turn up in the GW shops in the Vancouver area when working on shows here. I remember hearing he had a large pink & purple Eldar force.

It's like seeing an old friends stuff.

I met Robin Williams back in 03 when he came over to Iraq and did one of those USO tour things. I walked up on him when our team was trying to find out what all the fuss was about after a job by accident, all messed up and nasty. He made some of handed jokes, did some of that Good Morning Vietnam stuff and had us rolling on the floor after some pretty messed up stuff that we went through. I've always had a soft spot for Robin since then...

I notice some old school Armorcast in there, am I right?

I hope that the auction is in the bay area (he lived here) so I can go in person and buy something.

Speaking of celebrities and GW...I met Gary Oldman at LA Games Day back in 2008 and he was there with his kids who play, but he just likes painting the miniatures. Very cool guy.

Yes, all of those titans are Armorcast titans. Old Reaver, warhound and eldar phantom. All based off the epic modes of the time. Wouldn't surprise me if he had a revenant in there as well.

Yup back when GW was down on Water Street in Gastown Geoff and the boys would shut the store down for a day so he could come in and game. I know they did that when he was up here filming Jumungi.

I was in a game store in Arizona that was all abuzz because Robin Williams had come in earlier that day (or maybe week, I forget the details) to buy a copy of 'SOLO of fortune"', a Cyberpunk game book. They asked me if I was playing with him, because I also was looking for it.

Very cool. I had a buddy in college who was a commission painter and he did a couple of items for Robin Williams - but they were not armorcast titans.

If they pieced it out, I could see myself (and a lot of others on here) trying to get something. Honestly, to have something from an interest we shared with him, to be able to say “Robin Williams was an iconic person in everyone’s life, and he had similar hobbies to me; I bought a piece of his work as a remembrance of him”, well...that would be great. I’m sure the whole collection will go in one shot at auction though.

His daughter's actually been saying that she's looking at putting individual pieces up for different charities and the like.

Holy moley, there's a DX Takara Giant Gorg, a DX Clover Billbine, two DX Takara Scopedogs, and a duo of DX Takatoku Orguss toys! They look to all be in good condition, too. Those things will fetch a hefty price by themselves.

Those scope dogs are awesome sauce with a side of epic win.... god I loved VOTMOS great show anyone who is into military 'realistic robot' anime should give Armoured Trooper VOTMOS a shot.

Has anyone approached his daughter about putting the items up for auction through NOVA? They have the largest charitable event for miniatures in the world right now and a track record of successfully raising money for good causes.

While I'm sure there's a market for Robin Williams memorabilia, I'm not certain someone is going to see an armorcast miniature and see the value.

Wasn’t there Knight Models DK model of him as Gordon too? If I played in a movie and a figure was made of my character (and I enjoyed painting, of course!), I’d want that damn model!

In 1994, when I was living in ElCerrito,CA... I ran into him at the Berkeley bookstore (across the street from the UCBerkeley campus) and discussed miniature painting and heraldry with him.
By his own admission, he could afford to buy any miniature he wanted and couldn't paint to save his own life. So, his 'armies' (very plural!) Were composed of any fully painted miniature that striked his fancy.
He was very proud of his collection, and even took photos of his collection and/in various game battles. Which he kept in a black binder/photo album. Which he let me look at.

Combined with the local gossip of the time, I can venture the following 'opinions'...

1)His biggest army was definitely Chaos. (An uneven mix of mostly Khorne, some Tzeench, and a squad or two of Nurgle forces. Lots of ogres and chaos champions. No skaven, but many Chaos Beastmen. (Mostly ALOT of the freakier looking metal minis.)
2)His favorite spacemarine chapter was Ultramarines. (But, sadly,... not understanding the heraldry very well,... he had erroneously included a large number of Crimson Fists in them by mistake.) When choosing forces, I think this was his favorite army to play.
3)He had a sizable Ork army. (With vehicles.) Mekboyz, grots, squigs, etc. (A full roster of everything you'd expect to see in the citadel catalogue of the time. He didn't seem to care much for goblins, gretchin, etc. But, did have some.)
4)He liked Eldar alot. He said it thought they looked very cool, and loved their designs. (I remember a lot of Striking Scorpions, Dark Reavers, and Swooping Hawks.) Had a few of those old Armorcast vinyl eldar grav tanks.
5)He had a genestealer force. (Combined randomly with Chaos, if he needed to fill out points.
6)a Tyranid force. (Same as the genestealers, but large enough to be it's own army. Included a good number of Screamer-Killers.)
7)at that time he had started buying Dark Eldar. (Had a fewWyches, etc.)
8)he had a sizeable imperial force also. (Rhinos. Devastaters. 3 full sized (Armorcast) Titans. Wherever he had a imperial guard unit, he had an attached commisar.)

He usually gamed in private homes. (Lawyers. Store owners, etc. Other affluent players.) Because playing in public, would usually end in the game being called off because of being mobbed by fans. Even at conventions. (Also because, only affluent people could afford to buy enough models to challenge his army at full force.)
I can only imagine that his collection grew enormously, after that. (As much money as he pumped into the hobby, I can only imagine that his daughter has her work cut out for her!)

Only talked to him for thirty minutes, but he struck me as a very nice (but very 'private') person. Had kind words to say about my father being sick. Spoke alot about charities. I'm sorry he is gone.
Whereas, I in no way endorse what he did... from what I've seen as caretaker for the elderly... "Levvy body dementia is FRIGHTENING!" :-(
