So I just finished a Chaos Chosen which i'm really happy with and would like to show my friends, but whenever I go to take a photo it comes out way brighter on my phone than real life, how do I fix this? I tried going into a dark place but it was still too light.

Does this guide help?

Phones usually take dark photos not light.

If you take your photo against a white background it might help. Is your flash is off and your miniature well lit? It could be that your phone camera is over-compensating for a dark background.

Thanks for the guide! A lightbox sounds cool, i'll look into that!

How would I get a white background? In the guide they use paper for the floor but how would ai get a white wall (sorry if I am missing some key detail, working on 3 hours of sleep haha).
Well the flash was off and my room was decently lit, the curtains were shut on a sunny British day and I tried using lights but that made some od the highlights way too bright.

I picked up a light box for like $50 from a camera store that's pretty great, it has cloth on both sides and above that'll soften the light coming through from a couple of built in light globes and a lamp I put above it, it also comes with a strip of cloth in the back that's a nice soft grey for a background. Works pretty well for single models, group shots, and large models.
The idea is to get light all over the model without it actually shining directly at the model and to simply keep the background plain and consistent, all you need after that is a half decent camera.

(Spoilered some huge ass pics taken with it)

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

You want at least 2 sources of light, close to the subject if possible.

PS: It may not be included in that blog post - but do NOT use a flash. Never use a flash.
