Victrix Miniatures are moving into the dark ages era, starting with vikings. Details are a bit sketchy, I believe these are due to be released late 2018/early 2019. More details on the Victrix facebook page.

The image shows one body render with two head options and three arm options. They have stated there will be four unarmoured and four armoured bodies per sprue, not sure on the heads and weapons as yet. A command sprue will be added too.

I would have preferred Archaeamenid Persians before these, but I am sure there is a bigger market for Dark Ages models in the UK alone.

Are the victrix plastics on the smaller side of historical plastics? That would be just my luck (ie, likely true and unfortunate for me and my interests).

I don't think so.
Haven't held any in my hands personally but people often reccomend Victrix' romans over Warlord's. The latter being infamously small. Which should indicate they match well with other historical 28mm's

Warlord makes the two small dudes.

Thank you, that is good to know. Hopefully they make the Vikings a mm or two taller than their Romans, in keeping with historical accuracy.

How would these compare to the Gripping Beast Vikings?

Although the GB miniatures are quite nice and carry a good level of detail, going on those CAD images it looks like Victrix have upped the ante with these. This isn't altogether a surprise as their Romans are purportedly excellent (although I don't own any myself).

I would say that the GB vikings are better than their dark age warriors, so I'd be keen to see Victrix's take on the latter (or any kind of unarmoured Saxon theign or equivalent).

Will be interesting to see what the actual production minis turn out like, but certainly looks very promising!
