Hey all,

I've not played fantasy for a good 10 years and want to use the new edition as an excuse to get into AoS. I've got a 40k Daemons of Tzeetch force, which makes this easy but I've not idea what is good/rubbish form just reading the book. Can anyone point me towards a passable 1k list for pure Daemons (I have virtually every model, except the special characters). I'm not going to any tourniments any time soon, but want a list that'll at least give my oponent something to think about (before they curb stomp me).

Thanks in advance

Just bring a LOC and a couple units of horrors. Put the rest in reinforcement pts (for this edition, stuff changes next edition so no idea what will be good then and what they will change)

Summon whatever you need when you see what your opponent brought.

you can summon a wizard who summons a unit who summons a unit etc... a vortex might also be handy to keep at bay if you also bring a gaunt summoner with familiars (who is incredible vs hordes)...

Personally i really love flamers, but a lot of people dislike them.

Thanks for replying. Aren't any of the Battalions worth getting, or are they only really worth it at higher points?

The Eternal Conflagoration seems good (if playing lots of flamers), especially when combined with flamer's locus ability, but I'm worried lots of points on battalions will leave me very lots on models.

TZ Battalions are rather weak compared to some other fractions (Seraphons?) and expensive.
Chagehost battalion is usable if You play with bigger points (1500+). Some nice tricks can be done there with Lord of Change or Changeling.

Gaunt Summoner, Balewind Vortex (Summoned by Summoner), LoC (your general), couple small units of chaff and 260 minimum summon points (to drop a Bloodthirster on your opponent when he least expects it, or other small units if more appropriate). Prepare to receive hate. I wouldn’t worry about Battalions at 1kpts. If bringing a surprise Khorne unit doesn’t do your fancy, then just points appropriate to summon flamers/horrors/screamers/etc.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.
