My mate and I are new to
AoS and are looking to put together 1000pt lists to go against each other (as competitive as possible).
My list is as follows:
Celestant prime
mirrorshield
shielded by faith
2x 5 man liberators
Warhammer and shield
Grandhammer
1x Aetherwings
1x 5 man Retributors
1x 3 man Raptors with longstrike crossbows
The way i would play it is to put the prime and the Retributors into the celestial realm.
The Retributors will come in turn 1 or 2 depending on how lucky i am and they will suicide charge the opponents largest unit (likely Archaon Everchosen).
The Celestant prime will come in turn three (as long im not getting destroyed). im not too sure how to best play him but im thinking maybe utilising his meteor for horde control and soften up the opponents big guys prior to charging in to try finish them off in melee. I dont know if his
cc can be relied on every time though?
The raptors and liberators will turtle until the prime comes in and then the liberators will move up (if theyre still alive) and start dealing with the opponents troops + cavalry. The raptors will aim for high wound units and characters.
The Aetherwings will go for objectives in the early game and protect them in the mid to late game.
Feed back would be great
Celestial prime only arriving turn 3 might not be the best choice. Using him in a 1000 pts game might not even be.
Having over 30% of your forces arriving turn 3 and wanting to take time to soften enemies up? There is no time.
You have 5 turns. Competitive games are usually decided turn 3. (not done, but it is rather clear who is up and who is down)
Better take shooty stuff and if I am not mistaken you have access to stuff that gives negative to hit modifiers?
If you are gonna play vs archaon in a 1000 pts game, try to pin him down with lots of "cheap" units in your case your liberators... Archaon costs 700 pts. So as long he does not get to kill 700 pts you are good. Kill the rest so that he cannot hold objectives. After that you can focus fire on archaon and on holding objectives. He has only one unit left so will suffer for that. He might kill most of your stuff, maybe even all your stuff (but I doubt that) but you should win on objectives which brings you the major victory.
