Hello all. I have a few questions about the anatomy of Imperial star ships.

1. Are there any published images showing a cross section of an Imperial Starship like the images below?

2. Is there any info on where the various areas (crew quarters, cargo hold, bridge, flight decks, shield generators etc) are roughly located on an imperial ship?

3. More specifically... what are the large cylindrical objects attached to the fins of the Sword Class Frigate? They look like a pair of heavy lances but the Sword isn't equipped with that kind of weaponry.

Thanks for any help!

1 - None that I've ever seen, maybe a fan work somewhere but that's about it.

2 - Generally we know that thing on the top is the bridge (and probably has officers' quarters and such), the front has the torpedo tubes and lots of armor and that's about it.

3 - I always figured they were 2 mega lasers that counted as a lance, or maybe only one lance can fire per turn while the other is cooling/recharging/whatever.

Basically the original BFG rules had no stats on ship sizes, tonnage, crew etc except for BIG. Novels, the Rogue Trader RPG and the video games added a lot of real numbers to the abstraction. My feeling GW didn't want to tie themselves down too much so if I need there to be a lake-size water reservoir on Deck 382 then 'poof' there is one.

Those are sensors. The Sword class has no lances. Look at the Imperial cruisers and their little jutting side wings. They are encrusted with sensor masts. The Sword class's wings would be analogous to those.

D'oh, I was thinking of Firestorms...

Firestorms have their lance mounted underneath the armored prow. Even says this in their description.

Most likely engines. Note that it has an engine 'bell' at the back end.

Putting drives out on the end of the 'wings' gives increased ability to turn - a frigate is much more manouvrable than a heavier ship.

The bridge is in the tower structure. The turrets on the spine are the laser macrobatteries
