So our group might jump into a slow grow campaign for AOS (neither of us play currently) with one already buying some Idoneth (would have been my first pick), the second opting for Nighthaunts (cool deal) and the third probably Kharadron.
I like the concept of elves in fantasy and used to have a High Elf army (big fan of the old Tyrion/Teclis story) but I notice they they are no longer present. DoK don't really grab me althopugh some of their models are nice and I don't like the Sylvaneth without the wood elf element.

This leads to the question, I hear Tyrion may have made his own aelves (similar to Teclis' failed attempt) but are there any rumours as to what they will be or even when we might see them?

You could play Sylvaneth and add wood elves in later?

I think we'll get copyright approved elves at some point but I have no idea when.

We have no real rumors, aside from the stuff in the Idoneth and Daughters of Khaine books.

Now, if you liked the old High Elves? You can definitely make an army out of that stuff. It's just going to be a bit unfocused--and extremely difficult to obtain if you opt for Swifthawk Agents. Check out the Grand Alliance: Order book and General's Handbook for ideas.

I was wondering about them too. My 30k da' s were pushed back so I was debating on the renegade set for some knights if tyrions elves didn't release soon. I heard their flavor was going to be angel elves but I could be 100 percent wrong.

Hysh elves are supposed to be angelic.
There are still malerion's dark elves as well and then wanderers.

There's at least three more 'breeds' of Aelves to get a serious release, not counting Wanderers.
Tyrion and Teclis each created a breed.
Malerion created a breed.
Morathi created a breed.
The Idoneth were the first(failed) attempt at creating a breed.

I don't think people should be thinking of the Hyshian Aelves as "angelic" in the sense that they're all going to have wings. It very well might be a thing we see on a unit or a character, but the fluff so far seems to indicate that stuff like the Isharann(the Mages) and Akhelians(Kings and Knights) of the Idoneth are what we should be expecting to see.

Yes. Be careful about interpreting a few lines of teasers as "Tyrion made angelic elves". That's how "aquatic elves" became "C'thulhu elves". People ended up being salty about GW not keeping a promise they never made in the first place.

1000 Tzeentch Arcanites (Pyrofane Cult - Hysh) in progress

I don't recall Tyrion being specifically mentioned. Rather, it was stated that angelic beings and avatars of reason (true wording escaping my memory) were born in the realm of Hysh. I don't like certain aesthetics of ID, Namarti in particular. My hopes are that these angelic elves will remain true to their slim and fabulous hair having ancestors. I would LOVE to see a unit that draws inspirations from a rather recognizable western image, but it'd be also interesting to explore elements with a more eastern spin to them (for example Devas).

We don't have much (if any) information on their look, up until a week ago, the entire realm of Hysh and its visual concepts were very vague. There's an abstract art that pictures a city in the realm of shadow and light, but the details are once again rather blurred out and it could be anything. The Pylons that were shown feel rather promising.

I play with the old miniatures, however, I do feel that it's rather hard to make an effective force. Discussing from a casual viewpoint. With how GW put full throttle on every "real" AoS army, I am rather anxious how I'll be able to play against my friend's new spooks. Allies that provide strong frontline and mortal wound generation are almost a must if going down this path.

Does anyone else reading this think that GW probably should have completed at least the concept stage of a LOT more armies before releasing AoS?
It looks to me like we're all still sitting here waiting for really core elements of the setting to be revealed (like Knight said the entire realm of Hysh being super vague and I am sure it's not the only one).

I'm interested to get my hands on the RPG book that's in the pipeline because it seems like it must be the first proper setting guide that'll have come out (presumably) with info about all the races and realms compiled into one place.

Maybe I've just missed a lot that's been in the generals handbooks or something?

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Indeed, although I feel that in part they've chosen this avenue because of other needs, such as production, CAD designers, tool designers, tool manufacturing, tool and parameter testing and so on. It'd be interesting to learn how long is a total cycle of development for GW. This is nothing but a hunch but I feel that the allowed time for development of concepts is rather short.

Perhaps someone who chatted with the designers can shed more light?

Maybe I've just missed a lot that's been in the general's handbooks or something?

It is scattered throughout a various material. I wouldn't be surprised if some of it is going to be invalidated. We're finally getting the more defined dynamic of how souls behave in AoS setting. Something that was completely absent from Realmgate novels, which described an opening stage of Sigmar's reconquest of the Mortal Realms.

Information on the Realms, their composition and races has been scattered all over the place - the rulebooks, Battletomes and especially the novels. People do try and compile what there is on sites such as http://whfb.lexicanum.com/wiki/Main_Page but it often takes quite a bit of searching to find the info!

I think a lot of it is that GW was planning on the slowburn a bit more and has been scrambling to react since the 'narrative' approach failed to get interest.

GHBs, Realmgate War books, etc There wasn't a whole lot of detail for some but there was some 'warzones' to speak of.
