I have just gotten into AOS and have been enjoying myself so far, but I have a question. My normal opponent runs dwarfs, he has a bunch of the guys who get a 3+ save, rerolling failed saves, and ignore rend 1 weapons plus he has 2 big cannons and 2 flame cannons. How does death deal with this? Even if I send a few big groups of skeletons in to hit him they end up getting tied up in combat then shot by the flame cannons to the point they will lose a lot of guys to moral. And it's not like you can move a spell caster up to do something, their range is huge. So what can I do?

So 2nd edition will change things up a lot, but here's some advice for now:

If he has a 3+ save on Ironbreakers it's because he's in cover, which means you need to pull him out. You can do this by camping objectives elsewhere on the board or by hitting him with mortal wounds from spells. Alternatively he has a 3+ save from mystic shield, a buff which will be gone next edition.

Also, putting no-rend or even rend -1 units into a unit that has a 3+ save is a usually a bad idea even without rerolls. Use spirit hosts for mortal wounds or utilize some rend -2 attackers.

But the best strategy would be to run hexwraiths through them, causing mortal wounds, then charging the war machines and killing the crew. Throw a grave site in his back field and with some clever positioning you could be bringing dead hexwraiths back into the unit.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.
