Hello all!

Finally returning to the stars after many years and trying to make sense of some of the new rules. I'm a little confused with launching attack craft, as some posts I see seems to say you can launch only up to the number of bays a ship has, other posts say that you can launch the full strength of ships per bay.
So for example:

Imperial Dictator cruiser has a port and starbord bay (2 total bays)
Each has strength 2 squardrons of fighters or bombers,

So does this mean I can only launch a wave of 2 (total bays) or can I launch a wave of 4 (total of squadron strength)?

Thank you in advance for the help.

You can launch a wave of 4. Each Hanger contributes 2. So you can do a wave of 4 of either Furies or Starhawks, or two waves of 2.

Do note that Attack Craft are not "owned" by specific ships once they are launched. All that matters is the total combined strength of your whole fleet's hangers. So if you have 3 ships with hangers. 2 contributing 4 each and 1 contributing 6, for a total combined value of 14. You could potentially have your ship that contributes 6 hanger space pump out 6 on one turn. Then 6 the next turn. And 2 more the next turn. While the other two ships don't launch any craft at all. Now you have 14 craft in play, and all launched from the same ship, but that doesn't matter since all that matters is the cumulative stat.

Thank you, I was thinking that, but wasn't sure. Now just to try and find a bunch of fighter and bombers for all the fleets. Lol
Never really used ac back when I used to play, so never really bothered with them before.
Thanks again

This is true but is rarely a consideration as you will want to reload ordnance for every eligible ship with attack craft, but need only launch from the successful ships, so it averages out. Also if leadership is not up with demand you might have fewer attack craft in play than your launcher limits. This is less true for Eldar as their fighters tend to stick around and fleet leadership is higher, conversely it plays very true for orks as they have trouble with reloads because karriers are front line combat vessels, and they have poor leadership with no leadership boosts from characters.

As a general rule it helps to roll leadership for carriers then squadron those you need to keep leadership high. Where possible having a secondary leader such as a Ld8 chaos lord spare to lead an unluckily rolled squadron of carriers can mitigate a lot of bad luck.

Handled well attack craft can be a win button so organising your fleet around what you roll for the ld of your carrier assets makes sense as a general strategy, and squadroned cruisers can mass all their attack craft in one wave, which is exceptionally nasty but should only be attempted at short range.

With Orks is it their maximum launch capacity that is used?

I believe so. Not 100% on that though.

Orks launch attack craft the same way as anyone else. The faction that breaks the limit are tyranids, they can keep on launching and have no cap.
