I am confused. The instructions say you can put the Quad Heavy bolter or the long tube (autocannon/lascannon) on the ball turrets. I have seen pictures of this. As seen here.

On the Datacard it says you can replace Hellstrike Missiles with Lascannons, but doesn't even have autocannons listed as a weapon option.

The Hellstrike missiles seem to mount under the wings as seen here.

I have seen pictures with the long barrelled (lascannon?/autocannon?) under the wings as well as seen here.

So what gives?!?!? : / Did the datacard change from 7th to 8th? Are these 4 long barreled guns Autocannon or lascannons. They look more like lascannons to me. Should I just magntaize the Missiles, and ball turrets to swap the lascannon to either or the ball turrets or under the wing with the missiles?

You can replace the Quad Heavy Bolters on each ball turret with twin autocannons. Those come in the kit.

You can replace the hellstrike missiles with twin lascannon in the wing pods.

Lascannon do NOT come in the kit, the picture you posted look like 3d printed parts from shapeways.


When asked, forgeworld pretty much said "Yep, lascannon don't come in the kit, they an option you have to source yourself" (even thought the parts are made by Forgeworld for the Storm Eagle.)

Yeah, people used to use the now-OOP Navy Aircraft Lascannon, but now use either the Contemptor ones or plastic ones (such as Centurions or Stormraven) if they're not getting 3rd-party ones.

Ok. So the long barrelled guns included are autocannons that can be swapped for quad heavy bolters. Though the looy more like lascannons to me.

You need to see the FAQ for the autocannons.

Fun fact, they also forgot the autocannons the last time the previous time the fire raptor was printed (in 7th).

They weren't marked as straight Autocannons, they were filed as a Reaper Battery, as in Reaper Autocannons. They still Are filed that way in the list, which also means they got screwed out of having one of the best parts of an autocannon - two damage per hit.

Now the interesting thing is, that yes they aren't actually on the Loyalist variant, having pulled up both the FW Indexes to check.

Like I said, check the FAQs for the loyalist version (both the current one and the last version printed in 7th). They were forgotten and FAQ'd back in.
