With the new Knights out, I am looking at the evil versions too.

Seems like the Lord of Skulls is pricy for what firepower it has, but I think the Skullhurler and Gorestorm are solid and ends up a bit cheaper than with the Hades Gatling Cannon (frankly not worth 84 more points than the Avenger loyalist version is it?), I like that it always has a 5++, and can shoot whilst in combat in most cases, and can shoot at what it's in combat with. Pretty good I think.

Then there's the Kytan Ravager, the walking version from Forgeworld. But that one has only 22 wounds, and the 8 shot gatling cannon it has to take (no other gun options) is the same points as the 12 shot Lord of Skulls version! I was thinking of using some legs from an imperial knight to magnetize a Lord of Skulls torso to make a Kytan, but now I'm not so keen on it after reading into it.

But I really like the Greater Brass Scorpion, which has some potent firepower, though not super good range. I'd almost liken it to the Valiant, only about 50 points more, but better in combat, and again always with a daemon save of 5++. That 3D6 charge range is super good, and I think it goes nuclear explosion on a 4+, also exciting!

Then I'm looking to the future in the hopes of Angron showing up. He would round out a World Eater LOW detachment nicely, and probably leave a few points for something else, maybe a cheapo cultist battalion.

How might such a detachment perform vs an Imerial Knights army, or vs any other army? Just fun theorizing for now.....

The Knights codex has reduced the cost of Imperial Knights, buffed their weapons, granted them unique stratagems, unique relics, unique warlord traits, and a unique detachment, along with multiple new options and models.

If you're looking for a Chaos equivalent to fight on an even playing field: there isn't one. Everything titanic in the Chaos line, GW and FW, needs the same kind of love Imperial Knights just got before they will be viable on the tabletop again.

Pray for Chapter Approved.

True, those relics are pretty dang sweet, but do require some CPs to unlock en masse. But the Household stuff is really good too already.

If only those big bad Chaos models had the Helbrute keyword! At least they have the Daemonforge stratagem, one could use that in both the shoot and fight phases, only CP per usage.

Yeah, this year's Chapter Approved is going to be interesting. Those earlier codexes need some significant tinkering. I really hope GW isn't afraid to totally redo some dataslates, as there are so many awesome looking units that will never see the table due to sub-par rules.

The Khorne stuff has the advantage of some nice daemon codex buffs. A Khorne Prince with the Crimson Crown will significantly buff all the big robots’ damage, and give rerolled charges. An Iron Warriors Lord of Skulls also gets access to the 6+ FNP stratagem.

The Lord of Skulls seems weaker alone, but if you count army synergy, it's likely to come out ahead. But for that it needs to be in an army with some auras, psychic powers, and enough CP to use strats regularly. So it'd probably work well as a single LoW, but not necessarily as a full detachment of 3.

Always 1 on the crazed roll.

Depends on your opponent. If you are playing casuals, then one single LOS that is supported by the rest of your army is going to be good because you can use psychic powers and strategems to make it even better. If your opponent is a good one, and is bringing a well thought out army, then probably it will struggle abit (a lot will still depending on the type of lists such an opponent brings).

Overall, if his army has problems killing your LOS, then your LOS will be effective. If his army has enough guns to kill your LOS in one or two turns, then it will struggle to make its points back.
