Hi all,

Looking for a little help with regards to lighting. I don't have the luxury of a desk to paint at so typically I'm painting using one of those pop-up tables. This all works fine for me but lighting is becoming an issue and I have noticed that my eyes are not what they used to be in low light situations.

As such, I'm wondering if anyone can suggest some lighting solutions other than a lamp (because it won't fit and by lamp I mean floor lamp or one of those desk lamps you might have next to a PC). I saw some people with a sort-of LED cross suspended over the top of their station (X shaped from 4 corners into a dome-shape), but can't remember where I saw it and if they bought / made it.

Other than a lamp on my forehead (which admittedly I haven't ruled out), I'm looking for solutions people may have. I live in the UK.

I have but rarely use a magnifying lamp, it clamps onto the edge of my desk (g-clamp stand). Bought it from maplins in their administration sale, could possibly be found on eBay cheap enough

Head torch light is too focused and artificial

Thanks Rybrook. Never thought about a magnifying one and Argos look to have a canny one for £30. Should be able to put a natural light bulb in it as well

If you wanted the light to be really portable you could get a rechargeable one e.g.

I use two lamps with daylight bulbs and the strip lamp is a CFL that I use when colour doesn't matter (assembling, etc.)

All of these are from Ikea. The two spots have bases that can be clamped or screwed to the desk and the rest of the lamp just lifts out.

There's an LED spotlight above my head as I take this pic as well. Can't have too much light.
