Hi Guys and Gals,
I'm currently painting my eldar army in the Biel-Tan paint scheme and have now arrived at the tanks. I want to recreate a "mottled" look for them I saw with a alaitoc scheme and so my steps are the following:

1. Prime with Black
2. Basecoat with Caliban Green
3. Shade with Biel-Tan Green
4. Sponge with Caliban Green
5. Sponge with Waywatcher Green
6. Sponge with Moot Green
7. Apply Waywatcher Glaze

My question is regarding the first two steps. As I don't want to basecoat six tanks and a lot of jetbikes by hand I was looking at the Caliban Green Basecoat Spray from GW but then realised, that I would also have to buy a new Chaos Black Primer as mine is nearly empty. A friend of mine then suggested I just use the Army Painter Angels Green Spray as it is Primer and Basecoat in one. The Paint Range Compatibility Chart seems to support that the two colours are pretty similar but can someone please tell me how similar they really are? I mean I can live with it if Angels Green is a bot darker but lighter would be problem.

I would start with lighter tone for the first spray to serve as underlayer for the green spray. Biel-tan green is closer to salamanders green than dark angels green, and I'm afraid black to green sequence will make your greens much darker, unlesz that's exactly what youre going for.

Army painter green and Citadel freen is more or less same in terms of shade, but the greater coverage from citadel will make army painter seem lighter by comparison.

Also, if youre looking to use the green as a layer of paint rather than primer, citadel is the way to go. Get army painter black and citadel green. Army painter is a primer while citadel is just spray-on acrylic paint.

The colours are very close - but it is super dark, I mean, really dark. If that's the colour you've done on your other models, give it a shot?
