Hey, if you guys would play a pure Khorne Daemon list in AOS, what would you put in it to be competitive? I'll buy Khorne Demons for Age of Sigmar and since they are super weak when played mono I'd at least have some tips along the way

As it looks now I'd buy the Start Collecting twice, make a Skull Cannon and use 2 10man units of Bloodletters to have my 1000pt battle line filled out and use one Bloodthirster of unfettered fury with 3 bloodcrushers or a second cannon

So I've got no experience with Blades of Khorne or any of the mega synergy that Bloodbound is known for, but I've played Khorne Daemons on and off since AOS landed, and keep struggling with whether I should head into 2.0 with them or stick to somebody with magic, as this edition is sooooo obviously about wizards. The jury is still out on that front, however I do keep poking at my DOC, primarily because the army is getting close to built (it was destined for 40k but that game's a bit of a mess for red daemons too). Summoning is a neat (and I think needed) edition to the army, though we'll have to see how it plays out. I'm aiming to mostly drop down a free Bloodthirster late game myself

Anyway, I think your plan sounds pretty decent, going with double Start Collecting kits. Bloodletters are basically mandatory, Skull Cannons I think you need to reach out and get the blood tithes going (or die and do the same thing), and I'm guessing Blood Crushers aren't as bad in AOS as they are in 40k? In that game they mostly get run as Skullmasters, who are much better value, not sure if AOS is the same. Also a 'Thirster @ 1000 must be a cool thing, right?

My main point in posting is to say you may want to consider breaking the pure daemons thing and get a Bloodbound mortal hero or so to support your warp bois. I caved pretty early on and got a Bloodsecrator, who I feel is almost an auto-include given that 'Letters have a single freaking attak and that magic is going to be hammering hard at your dudes. 160 points in the new book but I still think really worth it, and for all I know there's no negative to including him in a Blades of Khorne army - it's not like there's a buff for going pure daemons.

Finally, if you want to read a sad report that all the pictures were lost for, here's my last report with my DOK: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/704187.page

I would say for a 1000 point AoS army, Daemons of Khorne are somewhat limited in competitiveness, especially without any mortal help (bloodsecrator for extra attacks, Bloodstoker to get a Thirster in there faster, Slaughterpriests for blessings which can't be shut down).

However, there are plenty of battalions you could make with Khorne Daemons, helping you to drop all at once and go first to close the distance you need for assault. The Murderhost would be great for the bonus move for Bloodletters, Skullseeker Host is good for shooting Skullcannons twice or more per turn.

With the new Command Point system, I'm predicting it won't be so bad to have (for example) Karanak as the general to get Flesh Hounds as battleline, or a Skullmaster on juggernaut to get Bloodcrushers as battleline, etc. That would help limit needs beyond certain battalions to get the required battleline units.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Oh yeah, Blades of Khorne are also good for their Tithe reward to shut down spells too, forgot about that!

Double thirster will do great in 1000 pts games. And will be very hard to a lot of list, Especially if you can get the insensate rage outrageous carnage off at full health.. (trait for re-roll to hit comes in handy)
I once won a 1000 pts tournament with 2 thirsters, 1 skull canon and 2x10 bloodletters.

After I get my Legion of Azgorh up to snuff, then I'll finish my Bloodthirster trio for the Council of Blood.

Pure daemons are hard to run competitively. I’ve tried and it just doesn’t work. The 5+ save on Bloodletters means they die quick. I so want to love Bloodcrushers, but they don’t make their points back (I did the 2 start collecting boxes and ran 6). They dropped 10 points in 2.0, but took a big hit. A 1 on battleshock only brings back 1 now instead of D3 which sucks.

Save yourself the frustration and either add in some mortals or run Nurgle if you like assault. A Bloodsecrator even at +20 for 140 is an auto include. Slaughter Priests are really good too and really help buff those Bloodletters.

If there is any glimmer of hope for daemons it’s flesh hounds are battleline now without Karanak and they still are really great with 4 attacks each and an unbind. Also Karanak is really solid. He dropped to 90 and can summon a free unit of 5 flesh hounds. For me, my daemons are just summoned now. Maybe there is a way to get them to work, but I had no success and people who have way more experience than me have said it’s futile trying to go mono daemon.

Speaking of a functional 1000 point pure Khorne daemons:

Skullmaster
Karanak (+ 5 Flesh Hounds)
10 Flesh Hounds
10 Flesh Hounds
10 Flesh Hounds
10 Flesh Hounds
------
990
