Pile of Necron Spare Parts

Hi lads,

I've finally finished my 2000 points of Necron, and I'm waiting for AOS 2nd édition to build some Nighthaunts.

However, I'm a bit lost when it goes to carrying them.
Citadel cases look simp'e and effective, but I don't know if I would be able to carry 4000 points of Crons/Nighthaunts. Also, it seems very SM focused, and I don't know if it's really safe to put spiky vehicles like Doomsday arks and Triarch Stalkers in it.

Battlefoam looks efficient but soooo freaking complicated, and the perspective of having to buy new foams each time I swap a unit looks very annoying..

What are your recommandations ?

KR Multicase, as always gets a big mention, has posted on Facebook about trays for Nighthaunts.
Drop by their (annoyingly complicated) website, or email them with a list of your stuff. Email is the easiest way to find out.
They have sections on their site listing most GW models, and the tray they suggest to use for them.

Necrons: https://www.krmulticase.com/product/trays/NE8?m=GW&s=WH40K&a=NE

Give us a shout if the tray sizes confuse (they will...).

I switched to Tablewar cases, and magnets. I'm never going back to foam. Especially great for large models and super spindly things that just snag on foam no matter what.

Be careful of the GW cases. The zig zag foam seemed nice at first but over time it's squashed the tufts on my model's bases.

I prefer Battlefoam's magnetic cases, but it's cheap and effective to see if you can fit everything on a baking tray and then slap some magnets on the bottom. I do that for my nids and it works great for very little in cost

I like Battle Foam the best. Their products are quality and versatile.

The magnetic rack system, no matter who makes it, is a neat concept, but is limited in application and has a major deficiency. The shortcoming of the magnetic rack system is one of protection. Drop your magnetic rack system case down a flight of stairs and let us know how your models made out.

I have. 1 flight. Still attached to the trays afterwards.

For details I use the 'Charlie Medium' MagRack system from Battelfoam in a Warmachine 720 bag. I recently took one of the trays to give myself one medium height and one tall height tray for my marines (my deathwatch list has around 70+ primaris marines). Most of my models use 4x1mm magnets, but larger models use bigger ones. My tyranids use standard bases so I can go up to 3mm in thickness on those, although they get hard to remove from the tray at that point It helps that Battlefoam puts a small lip on the plastic edge of the tray to preventing sliding off the tray.

I used bog standard battlefoam for a long time and it got the job done, but every one in a while a sword or lance would get caught in the foam and would either bend during transport or snap off during removal.

I could do with some assistance on this please. I'm looking at the Daughters of Khaine foam and I seem to be able to choose the foams, but where do I actually get the cases? There doesn't seem to be an option.

The way I buy from KR is a bit like:
Look for the trays you want, and jot them down somewhere, with the tray size (full-width, half-height, etc). If you cannot fill a case (1 KRU), pad it out with a couple of spare trays.
Note down whether any of the trays are marked as Custom,
Go to the Cases section, and pick the bag and case-type you want:
https://www.krmulticase.com/cases
Example:https://www.krmulticase.com/product/cases/K1-B
Pick the Core or Custom option, and wrestle with the load-outs.

Always keep an eye on their site and facebook for discounts.
Also, if you only want a set of trays, ask at your FLGS. Lots sell KR, but can only get the standard sets.

KR Multicase all the way... the foam trays fit inside Citadel hard and soft cases, and ultimately their cardboard cases are sturdy and lightweight

KR are great , you can glue foam bits you take out back in. I've used the same cases for 6 years now for a variety of systems as my tastes changed. The GW ones are good if you have any infantry that are not fragile but suck for big models. I can fit more in a double tier it than the biggest gw one despite it being smaller/cheaper.

Battlefoam have nice bags but the foam is too stiff.

your mind

Build your own.

I use foam core and hot glue to build trays.
Custom fit for vehicles etc is easy.
Use sheet foam where useful but mostly just foam core board trays cut to fit cardboard boxes.
I tape the boxes up and use tape with velcro to make closures and done. Free. Takes an afternoon to fit 2 or 3 thousand points ime...
