Miniature Market is clearing out their RTT stock.

$45 for the starter box and $15-21 for the squadron boxes.

*edit* Link in the RTT abbreviation.

I won't argue with them if they make the starter free with every purchase. I can assume we already forgot the horrible Kickstarter.

Hopefully Strange Machine can do a much better job with the Macross license.

If you're part of the small subset of gamers who cares about not supporting companies that ripped off your fellow players, Palladium lost the license and won't get a penny from these sales (although obviously the almost as useless Harmony Gold will since they took possession of the stock and likely sold it to MM).

Pathetic you can get it from retailers cheaper than PB would offer to their own customers they screwed over.

Trust me, the minis aren’t even worth the hassle for Battletech, much less PB’s dead game.

I dunno. The minis are a hassle, but you can get some cool "unseen" designs in different poses than the old Ral Partha metals, and even make some Frankenstein `Mechs out of the kits.

The pink bastard in my avatar is a kit bash from RTT kits that I use for a Battletech mercenary force. Scale is perfect, the parts go together well, but you'll probably spend an hour or more assembling each figure. The assembly is a pain in the ass.

I don't know, they look very use-able for Classic Battletech or Alphastrike.

Minis are fine imho, just a bit fiddly to assemble

Yep, they're terrible as an intro game idea - but for any qualified modeler they're not half bad. The fact that you're missing HUGE gaps in the range is what kills it. Not a bad idea for Battletech players even though they don't scale perfectly.

There's some dedicated 3D modelers that are filling those gaps if you have a 3D printer. Unfortunately the best one was Plastic Cretins, but he had to suddenly stop all sales a few months ago after almost assuredly getting a C&D from HG.

As for the figs, I may pick some more up now that Palladium doesn't get any money from it. They're fiddly and have awful joins that are horrendous for gaming figs but just fine for regular modelling, properly using liquid plastic cement goes a LONG way towards solving all but the the worst gaps.

I also highly recommend the plastic hex bases from Reaper Miniatures of all places. They're listed as 25mm bases, but in the fine print they're 25mm along the top of the base, they're very nearly perfectly sized to the old metal Ral Partha/IWM battletech bases

And some pics of my own RRT figs intended for Battletech:

MM is having a summer sale right now which is 10% off of their Deals (which includes Robotech) so the core box is $40.50 before tax.

I missed the KS (luckily) as I had no funds at the time, but might grab a box or 2 now for the models. I hate supporting Kevin, but he’s already gotten his share and I grew up on the show. Plus I really want the dice

If you want Unseen, this is a great deal. The REAL Warhammer. . The Marader, Archer. Pheonix Hawk, Lams and what ever I missed. Is it a hassel? Yes. Worth it though for $40 or what ever it is in your currency. Wish I had money would have picked it up.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

Is there a code/coupon for the MM summer sale or is it automatic?

I was just about to place a somewhat big order and you just saved me an extra 10% - thank you very much!

EDIT:

Just tried that code - it didn't work...

Yes, the right glue is critical with this type of plastic. It essentially melts the plastic a bit and causes a very solid bond. I had to use CA glue to get the models to stick to the bases that came with the minis, however. When doing this, I scuffed up the bottoms of the feet of the models to create more surface area to help the glue hold. Not sure if that was really necessary, though.

I am no pro model builder and I found the zentraedi side not overly difficult. There were some annoying long pieces on the reconnaissance battlepods that wanted to fall off before the glue sealed. I have read the order-of-assembly for the other, human, side is critically important. I should have a bookmark saved from *cough* a couple years ago *cough* that will be helpful...as I haven't built these, yet.

Also, excuse my fanboying, but those are some very well painted models, there, Kalamadea. Pardon my drool.

Forgot I screenshot there daily news page on June 14th when they received the RRT stuff. People can chew on the numbers and wonder how many pallets that were tarpped in Kevin’s Warehouse went to MM. I know in the main RRT thread people knew how many core sets to a pallet and such.

Also gives you an idea of how long these will be around even with the 10% extra going on.

This is all info they provide on their website if you go to the deal of the day and scroll down.

1340 units of the main game? Good lord!

The extra 10% sale has been extended through Thursday 12:00 CST if anyone cares.

I was going to pick up the main game for kit bashing Battletech and Gaslands minis, but knowing they have so many units I may wait and see if Black Friday's sale can save me even more money.

Armed with the knowledge that they're sitting on that many...I feel like I can wait for an even better deal if I'm interested.

PB overproduced by a huge amount, as can be seen below:

Known produced numbers (gleaned from shipping boxes seen on the KS updates)

Core Boxes: 5834 cartons @ 3 boxes = 17,502 sets
Battlecry Bonus Packs: 360 cartons @ 6 sets = 2,160 sets
Spartan/Phalanx: 384 cartons @ 12 boxes = 4,608 sets

6,684 of the core boxes from the numbers above were reserved for the KS backers, the remaining 11K were retail stock. So MMgot a lot, but it’s still a fraction of what was produced.

Considering I’m still able to AT-43 off their website, it’ll be years before stock runs low on this crap.

May be stopping by their physical store later today as I’m visiting my dad on hospice nearby shortly. I called to see if they had any at the shop, the just dropped off 2 pallets (90pieces) as a manager special. In store it’s $30 for the core set (no 10% since it’s lower than the web site).

I skipped the KS because I had no funds, but now I’m wondering if I should partake of a few starters? I know I’ve heard how bad the assembly was, but less than $1 per fig, could it be worth it?

One starter is more than enough pain. Honestly, a good chunk of the model’s in the starter set are taken up by the three modes for the veritechs (15 model’s right there). If you’re getting them for Battletech, all but the officer’s pod on the Zhent side doesn’t translate to a BT model (another 15 model’s or so).

If you’re getting it for BT, you’d be better off buying only the add-on boxes. If you’re actually buying to play RRT, realize half the model line isn’t there - and never will be.

Overall, it’s just a bad investment, that’s why it’s so cheap.

Sorry to hear about your dad; I've been in that situation and it sucks. Re: Robotech, I'd say if you've got the spare cash to burn then buy one box and open it up. If the contents interest you in person (it's hard to convey online just how badly the models were split up and arranged on the sprue), you can always get more the next time you visit your dad. There is alot in the box for $30 so even getting use out of the dice and tokens plus a few models for other purposes (like CBT for example) might be worth it for you personally.

Never was a big fan of Battletech, my neighbor ruined it for me early in and never got back into it. I realize I’ll never use it, but it was THE show I watched as a kid, and I still have 3 transformer jetfires/rick hunter valkyries (had 5) and I have a metal Alpha Fighter.

I don’t really need another Project, but I want the Dice and love the Tomahawks, so one box is already cheaper than buying the dice and the destroid pack.

As someone who never played the game and has used more veritech minis as kitbash fodder than actual veritechs, I'd say it's worth it just for the Zentraedi minis, the unseen mechs, and some fighters parts for kitbashing. If you're not into kitbashing and have no use for Zentraedi pods in other games, then probably not. The rules sound fun, but you can probably find them online and use them with other minis.

Miniature Market has the box set at $33 (off the top of my head) in-house. They have a rather large pile of them about 15 feet from the front door.

I skipped it and grabbed a copy of Forgebane for $100.
