The title pretty much says it all so if you missed some older wargaming related titles then you can get them probably cheap right now. Does anyone know the difference between Space Hulk and Space Hulk Ascension? They're both on 75% off sale.

Its a port of a really old GW solo play boardgame but I can heartily recommend Chainsaw Warrior also in the sale.

It’s not different from the boardgame at all, you still flip cards and you still have only 60 game minutes to save New York, but it’s surprising how on edge you get and for less than a Quid you can’t complain. Well worth a look.

Even if they paid me to I would never even lay my eyes on the purchase button of the abomination that is DoW3.

But it's a good opportunity to pick up little cheap games as kill team, that maybe aren't the century's top games but for that price, it's woth it.

How's Warhammer Quest? 6 bucks for all dlc sounds good, if its reasonably fun.

$10 is pretty much exactly what it's worth, so don't feel bad. The AI sucks, the UI is clunky and the missions are uninspired, but everything connected to 40k is pretty much as you would expect it. You get to see orks, eldar and space marines (including DW and IK) in action, the characters act pretty much as you would expect it, and the story is on par with what you read in the codices/BRB but obviously doesn't reach BL level.

The most annoying part about the game is that it expects you to react very quickly to things happening in combat, but both the AI and the UI prevent you from doing so. Anything that's GW IP is actually pretty on spot.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks do not think that purple makes them harder to see. They do think that camouflage does however, without knowing why.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Dow3 is offensive to the IP. The graphics are great but the gameplay is so very bad. I tried so hard to like it but I couldn't. Not even a little bit.

A lot of the GW games feel unpolished but since we are fans, we can look past a few errors here and there...

Warhammer Quest and Deathwatch are kinda similar but very clearly mobile ports. Still, they are quite enjoyable for a time. I have most GW games and a few I would definitely recommend are: Space Marine, Battlefleet Gothic Armada, Vermintide 1 and 2, Warhammer Total War 1 and 2, Space Hulk and Regicide. Martyr is also good but it still feels unfinished.

I'm sure there are others but those are the good ones off the top of my head. If you could find a copy of Dark Omen, you would win (especially if it works). That game was amazing.

Oh and there's a few new ones coming out; Mechanicus, Gladius, and BFG Armada 2.

Assuming it’s the same as the mobile version I have on my iPhone then it’s excellent. You have to play it on the hardest level to be any where like the lethality of the boardgame but it’s great for the train/bus/tube to work I find.

Cheers for the heads up, I've been wanting to give DoW a go for a while. Speaking of which, is there a consensus on which of the first to is better, assuming I get all the expansions for either?

2 seems to have better graphics and the gameplay is presumably a step better, but 1 seems to have a larger array of factions available. For a fairly complete 40k package, which holds up better?

DOW 1 is great for a Command and Conquer type experience, quite a good campaign to work through too...

A fine list, I would also add DOW 1 & 2 and Mordheim.

I liked the better Squad Upgrading, detail and interaction in DoW2 more over the more build and rush of DoW1.

Yeah DOW 1 and 2 are great. Mordheim was okay. I think there has been more updates since I last played it. I should try it again! Thanks for reminding me about it, notprop

I'd recommend Regicide, if only so you can crib the rules for analog play - you can practically hear the dice rolling!

Possibly a dumb question, but assuming I'm only playing offline, which DoW1 expansions do I need to get access to all the races in Skirmish mode (not to fussed about campaign)?

I was under the impression that I needed each expansion to play the factions within it, but I just read something that suggested that only applies online games, and that for offline games I'd have access to every faction with just Soulstorm. Is that correct?

Soul Storm has the most factions in it but Dark Crusade has the best game play IMO but you then lose out on SoB and DE. These all 'expansions' on the fist game but don't require the base game to play.

I've recently started playing the Blood Bowl miniatures game, and so finding Blood Bowl 2 Legendary Edition for cheap was a godsend. During the week when I can't go out and game, I can still get practice and learn how teams work with it (my Skaven team from the tabletop are already getting a lot of table time, and I've got a Khemri team planned too)

I mainly play 30k, but am still fairly active with 40k. I play Warcry, Arena Rex, Middle-Earth, Blood Bowl, Batman, Star Wars Legion as well

I also think DOW1 peaked at Dark Crusade despite the absence of sisters and DE.

I'd definitely recommend DoW 1 and 2 - only get 3 if you're a die hard collector. Also, the majority of the DLC for TW:W/2 are on sale as well, for those that already own the base games.

Been considering Sanctus Reach and Armageddon...so I guess I'll snag those guys.

I've been sitting on Sanctus Reach for quite some time now, played through a tutorial or the like, it didn't catch my fancy as much as Armageddon did, but I will revisit when I've got the time.

Also on sale right now is the new Titanicus game, already at a budget price, but now ever more so.

I'd echo this sentiment. It's worth $10 and one of those games you'll play through once for the campaign and probably never pick it up again.

The multiplayer IMO is a poor attempt at a MOBA arena style that just didn't work. They tried to fix it for the first few months but ultimately gave up and abandoned the franchise (for now at least)

"Courage and Honour. I hear you murmur these words in the mist, in their wake I hear your hearts beat harder with false conviction seeking to convince yourselves that a brave death has meaning.
There is no courage to be found here my nephews, no honour to be had. Your souls will join the trillion others in the mist shrieking uselessly to eternity, weeping for the empire you could not save.

To the unfaithful, I bring holy plagues ripe with enlightenment. To the devout, I bring the blessing of immortality through the kiss of sacred rot.
And to you, new-born sons of Gulliman, to you flesh crafted puppets of a failing Imperium I bring the holiest gift of all.... Silence."
