This question regards the ability to give orders in an Imperial Guard army

Can the piece giving the order be the one to receive the order, and is there any difference between tank and infantry orders for the answer?

Yes, they can order themselves, because they meet the keyword and range criteria. Both Infantry and Tanks. Pask can even order himself because the Index Special Snowflake FAQ no longer applies.

Why you mention a now nonexistent FAQ answer?

Because some people think the Index FAQ applies to the codex, when this is not the case.

Index FAQ said for some reason Pask couldn't order himself. However I have a horrible feeling I might have hallucinated it.

No you are correct.

There was ambiguous wording in the index about whether Pask could order himself along with any unit that had the <leman russ> keyword, or ONLY order other tank commanders (which was an utterly stupid interpretation. Really? Not being able to order stock leman russes but being able to order other tank commanders?).

GW FAQed it by saying Pask could order stock leman russes and other tank commanders beside himself, despite the ONLY TWO POSSIBLE interpretations of the rule saying something completely different. They didn't even bother to issue an errata to fix the rule wording, merely issuing a FAQ that says the rule did something completely different than the wording. Luckily we didn't have to deal with that idiocy for long, as the IG codex came out shortly after that and all officers got the ability to order themselves.

And the offending FAQ answer is no longer in the FAQ for the Imperium 2 Index. So bringing up is unnecessary and possibly confusing.

Well seeing he's here just trying to cause confusion and arguments bringing it up makes 100% sense. He's here not to help but cause 10+ page "discussions". Ignore him like I do and life is easier and people actually get helpful answers here more.

I really disagree with your personal attacks on BCB. First off they come really close to violating Rule 1 but more importantly him telling the OP that some FAQ is no longer in effect is actually very helpful.

Look at how many times someone suffers from edition lag. He is merely saying that there is a FAQ ruling dealing with the topic however that FAQ is no longer in effect and the FAQ has been superceded by a new ruling.

Actually it's not bad to mention as there are probably people who are thinking the old index FAQ answer applies to Pask now when it doesn't.

To be completely honest I thought the FAQ still had that answer. I guess I'll have to point to the Index Red Grail ruling from now on as an example of Special Snowflake that no longer applies.
