I'm not sure if this has already been asked but I thought I'd open up a discussion on the Baneblade. What are people's favourite variants and what is the best all-rounder?

I personally like the sound of the Banehammer and will be fielding one soon hopefully. The big gun that slows enemies just seems so useful against fast and CC based armies. (Plus it's funny!)

I do think the Banehammer is a very good choice, especially if you want to transport stuff. Its got a reasonably versatile gun that, even if it doesnt kill stuff (for instance if youre on youre lowest damage bracket, or fighting stuff with hit modifiers) can still really mess with your opponents plans.

Of course, the actual Baneblade (and to a slightly lesser degree, the Hellhammer) are pretty decent choices for this, too. Probably more so if youre not planning to use the transport capacity of the Banehammer.

So yeah. Baneblade for killing stuff, Banehammer for tactical shenanigans.

The Shadowsword is the winner imo, especially with the oncoming swarm of Knights. But it does great work against most lists, as it can just delete a vehicle every turn. 404pts with no sponsons is a bargain.

The shadowsword isnt really an allrounder though, which is what OP asked about. Its almost certainly the best baneblade variant available, but its also very much dedicated AT. It *can* kill infantry, but its nowhere near as good at it as other variants.

True indeed.

+1 for basic Baneblade.

Also, I'm a big fan of Hellhammer, though a lot of people find it difficult to justify the price. But from my POV it's damage potential is so great that it totally worth its points.
